Imposing Sovereign or Daring Skyjek?

Should I run Imposing Sovereign or Daring Skyjek in a boros aggro deck. It focused on low cost drops and swinging as soon as possible (like more aggro decks). However, I'm unsure if I should run Imposing Sovereign for an extra turn to swing or Daring Skyjek for the upfront 3 power. (Or Spirit of the Labryinth). Here's the deck http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/weenie_boros/

I would just go with both, cut 2 of the Spear of Heliod for 2 Imposing Sovereign . The spear is useless in multiples, so it's not worth it to run a count that feeds you multiples, and it's not so powerful or key that you're willing to accept that risk.

I don't understand why people run Imposing Sovereign over Blind Obedience . I understand budget, but Blind Obedience is strictly better in my opinion. It's harder to remove, even with all the enchantment kills in this format. can become, especially in a white weenie deck a better long term card because of extort.

but if you must stick with the creatures, Daring Skyjek is a stronger play because he usually will get through if he swings, and if he just blocks, he'll kill more things than Imposing Sovereign .

Okay, What about adding Ajani? I wasn't sure if he was worth the counters + Double Strike, flying finisher.

-2 Spear of Heliod

  • 3 Imposing Sovereign

  • 1 Daring Skyjek

@ pnchap The reason for running Imposing Sovereign over Blind Obedience is despite the fact that Sovereign can be removed easier, it fits better in an aggro deck. Additionally, I wouldn't not take advantage of the extort from Blind Obedience as well as maybe a control deck would. As for your opinion for Daring Skyjek, I agree with this, but is tapping out creatures not worth it for an extra turn of swinging? Or The upfront damage is more of a threat.

pnchap Because there are too many match-up where Blind Obedience is basically a dead draw when Imposing Sovereign is at worst Goblin Piker . The deck needs to be able to attack and would rather be investing mana into animating another 2 power in Mutavault and holding up Brave the Elements then extorting. Slowly extorting your opponent is not going to be as useful as the 2/1 body, much in the same way that say Thalia, Guardian of Thraben is better than Thorn of Amethyst . There are some situations and board states where it becomes better to not be a creature, but they are fewer because getting the same effect on an aggressive body is so synergistic to the game plan.

Iceygod Ajani, Caller of the Pride and Spear of Heliod are a mostly interchangeable slot in the deck. It comes down to what your local meta is like. Ajani, Caller of the Pride is better for pushing a final burst of damage if games are likely to get gummed up where as Spear of Heliod is a little better all around.
