Infect, is it heartless?

Deck Help forum

I just had a revelation as I was playing my little brother tonight...What if an infect deck ran heartless summoning? I know the USUAL idea for infect is "Throw small creatures at you and either pump or proliferate.", BUT....What about all the creatures that some deem too high of a CMC to use?

Hand of the PraetorsMTG Card: Hand of the Praetors

PutrefaxMTG Card: Putrefax

Skithiryx, the Blight DragonMTG Card: Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon

Corpse CurMTG Card: Corpse Cur

to name a few! Think about them...

Hand of the PraetorsMTG Card: Hand of the Praetors - 4 drop 3/2 to a 2 drop 2/1

PutrefaxMTG Card: Putrefax - 5 drop 5/3 trample haste to a 3 drop 4/2 trample haste.

Skithiryx, the Blight DragonMTG Card: Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon - 5 drop 4/4 flier to a 3 drop 3/3 flier

Corpse CurMTG Card: Corpse Cur - 4 drop 2/2 graveyard fetch to a 2 drop 1/1 graveyard fetch....

Now, my question to the people of tappedout.net is this; There are many other cards with Infect that have been cast aside. If you know of any cards that would work in a heartless summoning infect deck, (preferably G/B) what are they? How could they fit in? I would love to try out a deck with this idea. Also, give me some pros and cons about this idea. Constructive criticism never hurt anybody!

I actually really like this idea.

Maybe Phyrexian VatmotherMTG Card: Phyrexian Vatmother? I've only messed around with small creatures then pump, but this idea could definitely work!

Core ProwlerMTG Card: Core Prowler is cool. And I think pump is still useful, especially Mutagenic GrowthMTG Card: Mutagenic Growth. Maybe Phyrexian HydraMTG Card: Phyrexian Hydra? A 6/6 for 3 isn't too bad.

Pump would definitely be useful, and Phyrexian Hydra is good. Thanks Miasma :)

hmm, would SpinebiterMTG Card: Spinebiter be a good card to add to a deck like this?

I'm unsure. I do notice though, that most of these are double G or B, so it might be harder to cast them. Keep that in mind.

Phyrexian SwarmlordMTG Card: Phyrexian Swarmlord would suddenly become a huge threat with that. Pumping out some serious tokens

I thought about that, but they would be 1/1 and would only survive if Hand of the PraetorsMTG Card: Hand of the Praetors was on the field, otherwise Heartless SummoningMTG Card: Heartless Summoning would just kill off the tokens :/

This is the current version of my Heartless Summoning + Infect deck (Infect Is So Heartless)

Best hand I have drawn so far in playtesting is:

2x Swamp

1x Forest

1x Skithiryx, the Blight DragonMTG Card: Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon

1x Heartless SummoningMTG Card: Heartless Summoning

2x Titanic GrowthMTG Card: Titanic Growth

1st Draw - Forest

Turn 1: Forest

Turn 2: Swamp, tap to play Heartless SummoningMTG Card: Heartless Summoning

Turn 3: Swamp, tap all to play Skithiryx

Turn 4: Forest, attack with Skithiryx and play 2 Titanic GrowthMTG Card: Titanic Growths to win.

I think my U/G Livewire Dodge deck using unblockable creatures with infect combined with Livewire LashMTG Card: Livewire Lash is more effective and reliable.

The problem is this deck runs the risk of getting stalled with expensive creatures and no way to cast them. I don't see any way around that problem.
