is a -1/-1 counter themed deck viable in standard? would the subtheme i picked fit the glove?

ive made this deck Minus-One/Minus-One for casual play not sure if -1 counters is the way foreward then theres a subtheme because etched monstrosity demands coloured mana so i added 8 more mana cards(Alloy Myr & Sphere of the Suns ), 3 proliferators (Contagion Clasp ) and 4 other cards that can misuse the mana as well (card:Praetor's Grasp)

I've been wanting to make one based off of general counters (+1s for me, -1s for everyone else, and charges all around with perhaps a tad of poison) and proliferate. Thrummingbird and Contagion Engine as major sources of proliferation, possibly Prototype Portal or some such reproducing object. It just sounds like an absurdly fun deck to me. I'm still trying to perfect it.

-1/-1 counter-based decks are usually GW, and are fairly successful. They usually use Melira, Sylvok Outcast and Phyrexian Unlife , then support that combo with Etched Monstrosity and Soul Conduit .

I think that while mono-black has better capability to give and proliferate counters, it's also less flexible than GW.

i agree it definitely is less flexible, not sure if the deck can hold out long enough to get 4 alternative sources of mana to power Etched Monstrosity 's ability, but i sure can use the mana in the meantime to play the opponent's own control spells or threats against them thanks to card:Praetor's Grasp. for the sake of my deck being mono black i wouldve put Phyrexian Obliterator in, but its too expensive as a card, endgame is when/if i manage to whip out either the demon or monstrosity(even with the -1/-1s on, we know how strong a creature can be at 5/5). if i add a tutor in it takes up creature space and if i add more cheap creatures i lose the control aspect (to a degree). is it worth adding some discard cards?

i just thought mono-black would be the way forward so i could use Carnifex Demon 's ability to maximise it's defence against infect. maybe I should splash out into other colors
