is Counterflux worth it?

Deck Help forum

i am currently running a boros deck that i added blue to. I was happy with the results the blue had during FNM last night so i am looking to add some more blue to it due to big creature issues i had in FNM i was thinking adding some counters would Counterflux be worth it or is there any better mid range counters?

If you're just "splashing" blue, use a counter that doesn't have double blue in its casting cost. Syncopate seems like a better fit in your build. Plus exiling a creature is better in most metas than Counterflux being uncounterable.

I can't say what is better. The question I have is, why do you want a counter spell in an aggressive deck. Seems like Searing Spear or Pillar of Flame is what we should be talking about. They act as removal and can kill your opponent.

i actually was considering tho's i just wanted to add a third color mostly and i want to get into blue since i don't use it at all. would i be better off just going complete aggro?

You mentioned creature issues. Goes with Essence Scatter .

I think that is your best bet. Geist of Saint Traft is an amazing card, but I don't think you need it. Aurelia, the Warleader may have too high of a converted mana cost (cmc) to fit here also. Small (1-4 cmc), aggressive creatures, coupled with burn will get the job done. Plus, this will give you more consistency.

Rakdos Cackler seems like he would be right at home here.

Have you considered Spell Rupture ? If you are playing mostly Boros, I assume you are playing a fair amount of creatures, including Boros Reckoner and whatnot.

But he may be left in mid game where his opponent can pay the extra cost. If creatures are the issue Essence Scatter is the way to go.

Most of the time, a Boros deck will want Negate . Although for a catch-all, Izzet Charm should work.

I like reverberate, as you can counter a counterspell by copying it, or doubling your Boros Charm s or any of your removal - or the enemy's Sphinx's Revelation . Definitely a cool card

You do not. It copies the spell in its entirety, including the number chosen for X.
