I hate following the same deck builds as everyone else, standard seems boring now with 3 major decks running around, even worse than dealing with the mind rapist and caw blade. Does anyone think elves can be kept alive? I have a rough draft, been using a similar deck with decent results but need ideas on how to tweak it. I feel like the low end is off, but there is little to do there the deck is http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/elves-of-doom-2/

Elves of Doom

Linked.

Lacking the power of the Zendikar-block elves or the Lorwyn/Shadowmoor elves, it is difficult to say that they will be a viable archetype as far as pure tribal is concerned. You'd have to augment them with something big - a ramp goal.

I feel like with Ezuri, Renegade Leader it is possible to build a good Elf deck but never Tier 1

I don't think Elves will ever be good in this current standard format because the current blocks of which Standard is has no Elf utility and support cards

Scars of Mirrodin had a few elves, but the set didn't have too much to offer since it revolved around artifacts

Innistrad has no elves at all, with humans taking over as a tribe

also, i'd like to know what those three deck types you're talking about, considering everybody's meta is different

Solar Flare is the one I see most commonly here on T/O these days.

The big archetypes seem to be solar flare, Kessig Wolf Run ramp, gw tokens, and control(ub and uw varieties)

all which are beatable even with home brews. Elves can win just like WW decks. it really depends on your meta and if you build a deck to take out the decks in it.
