I'm wondering if it is possible to create a tri colored deck without shocks/fetches. Maybe using lands like Ancient Ziggurat , Hinterland Harbor , or Dragonskull Summit .

I'd really like to know because theres a couple tri colored decks I want to make, but just buying the land base is too much for me.

Or the lands that come into played tapped unless you control two or fewer lands.

A standard competitive deck? no, not really, you need shocks at least, checklands like Dragonskull Summit can also be put in, but not at the exclusion of shocks.

If it's a casual deck try using 60% basic land, 40% checklands/guildgates.

Competitve = FNM tournaments and the like

Casual = you and some mates

Ancient zigg, is great for non-standard mostly creature decks.

Well, if this is standard, Evolving Wilds helps, if this is casual, both Evolving Wilds and Terramorphic Expanse should be ran. These are basic land fetch lands, if one of the colors is green, Farseek and Nature's Lore can be used (casual again). you wouldn't be able to compete with a tri-color deck in modern without the fetches at the very least.

The above comments I unfortunately have to agree with if the deck is for sanctioned tournaments. I learned the hard way that shocks and buddy lands are kind of a must to be competitive. 4x Hinterland Harbor and 4x Breeding Pool later I swing for game on turn 6 at the latest.

This is more for casual. Except the deck I was planning on making was W/G/U allies. It really slowed the deck to have terramorphics as I had to hit 2 plains in a row to play Hada Freeblade and Kazandu Blademaster . I'll try playtesting the deck with checklands and see how that goes.
