Is Kraken Hatchling actually useful here?

Working on Simic/Golgari cooperation.
Corpsejack Menace makes a lot of little abilities powerful, but the deck is a bit underwhelming without him.
My delay game needs work against red deck wins and Naya. To the point: Does Kraken Hatchling provide a usable barrier against the first three turns of aggro?
I can scavenge or Bioshift onto him later, so he may even do work on the attack, or at least get some kills while on defense.
Deck is at deck:life-and-death-in-ravnica-in-progress-help-pls
I'm a casual player trying to advance into standard, so any advice would be awesome, thanks

you seem to be forgetting that kraken hatchling, single handedly stops Boros Reckoner in his tracks. and as a lot of decks are currently built around him...his 4 toughness can withstand the hit from reckoners 3 damage, and his 0 power means that reckoner doesn't reflect any damage ony you or your creatures.

While their's no doubt that in many ways Boros Reckoner is a meta shaping card, there are still so many other decks and creatures out there. I wouldn't recommend mainboarding a card based on another unless it seriously punches a hole in your deck's plans. And you know what deals with Boros Reckoner even better, non damage based removal, which being in black like this deck open up.
Besides the simple fact that any aggro deck worth its salt runs removal. This is why delaying with creatures is usually not so great, unless it's 2-1 with guys like Augur of Bolas or Snapcaster Mage . Kraken Hatchling can't not block creatures, and they can all attack into it recklessly. Now that 4 toughness body dies to every removal in the format because it has damage from combat. They are still up a card in relation to you since they still have a creature on the board, where as a simple Devour Flesh leaves you at parody, and you have a much better late game.
For example, Jund isn't well positioned in the creature heavy meta because it's putting out some big blocker until it can land an Olivia Voldaren it's because its Abrupt Decay ing and using all its other removal to destroy your early game until it get's other repeatable sources online.

Interesting. I was also looking at Augur of Bolas , though I hadn't realized the potential Kraken Hatchling has against Boros Reckoner .
I think I'll try a few Augur of Bolas since I really want to be holding answers and even if he gets blown away I'd rather have dug for an AEtherize than emptied my hand.
That said, Augur of Bolas conflics with my Farseek slot, but I think a few will still help.

I would say no. Kraken Hatchling only somewhat addresses a single threat, small creatures on the ground. You generally much better off running removal or tempo.
That said, you can potentially have both with Augur of Bolas . With your density of spells it has a good chance of being a two for one, its toughness is still big enough to be relevant and it can also trade/eat some small creatures right away, there are a lot of X/1 running around.
