so in my gruul deck i wanted to get 4x Legion Loyalist and 4x Madcap Skills my friend told me that it wouldn't really work well, but i don't see how madcap + legion would hurt me.

Removal spell + these two cards = an easy two for one for opponent. This isn't bad persae, just risky with that in mind

Does it work? Yes. Does it work well? Probably not. In Standard you have to worry about Lightning Strike , Doom Blade , Cyclonic Rift , Hero's Downfall , Lightning Strike , Polukranos, World Eater , Domri Rade , etc. There are lots of ways to deal with creatures, and putting Auras on creatures makes them more vulnerable. That's why Aura decks run creatures with hexproof like Fleecemane Lion , Witchstalker , and Gladecover Scout , to prevent that from happening.

In a casual deck it's fine, but a more competitive one will find ways around it.

Also worth noting Legion Loyalist is a deceptively bad card. If it was a spell that battalion effect probably wouldn't be worth running, and as a stand-alone creatures it's pretty bad for an aggressive deck. Don't let the haste trip you up, Legion Loyalist played Turn 1 by itself will kill your opponent on Turn 20. A plain old Bear Cub played on Turn 2 will hit for lethal on Turn 13, 7 turns earlier.

You don't ever play Legion Loyalist on turn 1... If you are, you're doing it very wrong. He's like a surprise! BATALLION is online card.

Stone_Munkee That's all well and good, but it still has to exist as a card in your deck.

Getting to turn battalion on suddenly is the best case scenario implying a boardstate that already involves fairly profitable attacks, the worst case is having Legion Loyalist be a total blank because they played any creature with 2 toughness creature making it basically a spell that probably won't trade for any of their cards and gets eaten in blocks and the middle ground is somewhat pathetically plinking away at your opponent watching your odds at winning slip away as you give them turns and turns of additional card draw since they are under basically no pressure.

I'd rather just have a Rakdos Cackler .

It's worth running as a 1/2-of in any red based combat deck, it gets token blockers out of the way, gives your dudes first strike and trample, so your battalion'd Boros Elite 's with a Spear of Heliod aren't trading with their Loxodon Smiter 's. It's a decent card but it aint worth running as a 4-of by any means

Neither card is terrible, nor is either card really outstanding. But if you want to use them, by all means.

Legion loyalist has a strong situational ability and a weak body, which usually makes opponents less willing to waste a doom blade on him.

Madcap skills is a super aggro card, can't tell you how many game's i've lost from a simple 1/1 enchanted with this on turn 2. However it does leave you susceptible from removal, one kill spell and I will vastly improve my odds in the match.

I read all ur posts id be more accurate with My response but.im on My phone...

My Idea for the combo wasnt really put madcap on legion it was just to have them And why i want legion is to make all My creatures unblockable( when battalion) making really say ash zealot n madcap n burning tree with legion that alone is 8 damage on turn 3 n the combos are endless with all different cards...

1) that's synergy, not a combo and 2) Legion Loyalist only makes you unblockable against creature tokens. Regular creatures can still block just fine.

From my experiences with him as a 3-of in RDW, he's a godsend. Let's look at everything with tokens that messes with RDW right now.

Elspeth, Sun's Champion , Master of Waves , Pack Rat . When Elspeth, Sun's Champion lands they just amass tokens and hold off Supreme Verdict while creature tokens fill up the board. You can just amass your own army and before ult'ing drop Legion Loyalist to swing for game.

Pack Rat will be sitting comfortably on 5 tokens and swing with one or two. Take the life loss, and swing for game.

Master of Waves will drop for 20 elementals, and most likely their whole team but him will swing, with the defense of the tokens being sufficient. Nope. Drop Legion Loyalist and swing in.

He's not very aggressive, I'll give you that. But aggression isn't all in P/T-Cost ratios. ;)
