Izzet Charm vs Magma Jet
Deck Help forum

So I'm working on my new deck,
and my main trouble I'm having is whether I should run Izzet Charm or Magma Jet , or a combination of both, maybe 2 and 2.
Izzet Charm Pros and Cons
Pros --- Counters non-creature spells quite well, works great against tempo, control, and burn decks.Cons --- Can't target players/planeswalkers with damage, only gets one effect from the use.
Magma Jet Pros and Cons
Pros --- Is almost a combination of izzet charm's damage and draw card ability. Great against aggro and relevant against control.Cons --- Is not a counterspell that could stop a planeswalker or underworld connections/whip of erebos from resolving. Not as flexible as Izzet Charm.
Any ideas on which would work better in the deck linked above, and please give reasons to why you would recommend one over the other!

Here's my thought on comparing the two without looking at your deck:
Magma Jet is only good vs aggro. It only does 2 damage to a creature/player and lets you scry 2. Yes vs control you can still burn their face and cycle away the cards you don't need, but that's it.
Izzet Charm has 3 modes. It still has the 2 damage vs aggro but can still filter out cards you don't want (although it costs you a card to do so). It can also be good vs control as a counterspell.
Now if you're going to run a playset of one of these, I'd just do a split and you can always sideboard replacements depending on your matchup

looking at your deck, you only have 2 draw spells so for that alone i'd keep the charm, plus it gives you more counter ability. early game, the scry 2 would be great though. i run Voyage's End in one of my decks and just scrying 1 was very useful can't tell you how many unneeded land draws i was able to avoid. maybe you could put Izzet Charm sideboard so that if you need the flexibility you have it. and mainboard the Magma Jet
