Legacy burn mana flare discussion

I'm just getting back into Magic after being away 15 years so I have little idea what's out there after Urza's Saga and before M13. I'm interested in trying to assemble a legacy burn themed deck. Note: this doesn't have to be solid red. I do have dual lands and most of the cards from revised through Urza's Saga, and like decks that have an element of control to them or have additional avenues of aggression (e.g. discard).
I am thinking about how to ramp up my available mana pool without helping my opponent. The card that comes to mind is Mana Flare .
The only thing I dislike about Mana Flare is that it gives your opponent additional mana as well. I've been thinking about how to maximize benefit while limiting your opponent. So far the one idea that I've thought of is a combo of Candelabra of Tawnos with something like Winter Orb . The Candelabra of Tawnos allows you to untap multiple lands by just tapping one while the Winter Orb restricts your opponent. Of course, I realize that Candelabra of Tawnos is prohibitively expensive (but I do have one, maybe splash white for Enlightened Tutor to get it out?). I suppose the simplest question is whether there are newer cheaper combinations out there that would use a similar mechanism to allow you to flare but limit your opponent.
Perhaps a more general follow up question is what are the "new" ways of doing this more efficiently (instead of Mana Flare )? (e.g. Braid of Fire ?)
a final thought would be larger strategic mechanisms that work in a legacy format. My local gaming store runs legacy once a month and I'd like to jump in (so far I'm thinking something along the lines above or a Stasis themed deck - but the latter is reputed to make people mad and that's not the first impression I want to make with the local gamers (i.e. I want to win, but don't want them to hate me right out of the gate! LOL!).
I look forward to what people think. Thanks in advance.

I run Seething Song in my Modern format burn deck, and Rite of Flame , Pyretic Ritual and Desperate Ritual are smaller versions of that. Battle Hymn is useful if you have a lot of creatures (and Brightstone Ritual specifically if they are goblins), which burn decks traditionally don't. Ice Age had Burnt Offering . If you're going the R/G route, there's Druid of the Anima and Fire-Lit Thicket .
That's all I can think off off the top of my head.

Wow! Red has some serious ability to generate mana now, so much for Dark Ritual and black being the primary way to generate fast mana in a burst!

Yeah, we got some bumps after a while. I just got back into Magic after an over-a-decade long break too, and Seething Song isn't quite as efficient as Dark Ritual but it's the finest red mana ramp I've found so far.

I haven't seen anyone really use Mana Flare effectively. I wish you luck.
I play a High Tide deck currently, which utilizes Candelabra of Tawnos .
