Making descendant's path work in standard?

Deck Help forum

I have a new deck idea that seems kind of fun: A dance with dragons

The idea is to use baby dragons and Descendants' Path to cheat in very scary monsters.

I was thinking about Descendants' Path and how to make a deck around it. Clearly, it needs to focus on a creature type with a wide range of CMC (drop small creatures quickly, so big ones come out free as early as possible). Dragons and angels came to mind, but dragons won on the basis of there being 8 1 or 2 drops available. The deck isn't fast but can get scary. However, being dependent on Descendants' Path makes it pretty fragile. I'm looking to explore ways to make the deck more stable and test whether there is a deck that would be viable for standard play somewhere in here. It doesn't have to be dragons (but they are fun).

Anyway, if you have suggestions or just want to check out my latest musings, please take a look. Plus one always appreciated if you like. Thanks. -Apop.

I've also given it a lot of thought, and I came up with a similar idea, except I used beasts: The Beastliest Deck. The deck does suffer from the consistency problem that you mentioned.

I also went a different route with just shoving in a huge number of the same creature type to try and make the card consistent: UGH(umans). This deck trades its inconsistency for a huge weakness to board wipes. So it's better on average, imo, but it's less likely to just "randomly win", and more likely to just straight up lose to Supreme Verdict .

After tweaking this deck and including blue it's much more consistent and starting to look a little scary. Anyone who is interested, I would love some specific feedback on the deck and sideboard to see whether it can become viable in standard. Thanks!
