is a Wizard flicker deck in which I've been using Wall of Omens for card draw but now, with the printing of Naban, Dean of Iteration, I want to replace it with a Wizard, namely Silvergill Adept. Any suggestions on the minimum number of Merfolk the deck needs to be able to reliably support it?
Well, sure, I wasn't suggesting I'd just jam it in the deck without adding more Merfolk Wizards but, at a certain point, if I'm adding inferior creatures just because they're Merfolk, it stops being worth it to include Silvergill Adept. That's why I was looking for advice from people as to the right number of fishies to balance the benefits of Adept against the costs of warping my deck around it.

If youre not running aether vial, you really should only be running silvergil in merfolk builds so you almost never have to pay the tax. Theres really not a mathematically correct number of merfolk to make silvergil manageable. Now, you could build a merolk/wizard tribal, and probably be okay. you could run the new Merfolk Trickster, Cursecatcher, Harbinger of the Tides, Stonybrook Banneret, and Master of Waves
