Mogis EDH deck

Ok, so I cracked a foil Mogis, God of Slaughter, and would love to build an EDH deck around him. However, I really have no idea where to begin. What paths could be taken with Mogis as Commander? I was thinking about something that could generate tons card advantage (Necropotence , Erebos, God of the Dead , Phyrexian Arena ); fast mana (Dark Ritual , Bubbling Muck etc), big critters (dragons and demons); and burn to make use of the huge mana (Drain Life , Fireball , etc).
Is this a good angle to take with it?
For reference Mogis, God of Slaughter
.
Giving people a free sac outlet can be risky, so you might want to include some things to prevent graveyard recursion. Leyline of the Void
, Bojuka Bog
, and Relic of Progenitus
are very common ways of dealing with graveyards. Even Rakdos Charm
could do work because all 3 modes are useful in EDH.
Burn is notoriously bad in EDH due to starting life totals, and it gets even worse in a multiplayer game. Instead, you need efficient effects that harm all of your opponents at once, like Exsanguinate
. One of my favorite red cards is Repercussion
because it makes the red damage sweepers, like Blasphemous Act
and Mizzium Mortars
, even better.
Rituals aren't real effective in EDH because you're in it for the long haul. You'd be better off with things like Cabal Coffers
+ Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
, Doubling Cube
, and Crypt Ghast
-like effects.
You'll need to be sure to give your deck focus, and do that by looking at the ability of your general: he deals 2 damage to your opponent unless they sac a creature on upkeep. First thing to include would be ways of keeping your opponent's creatures under control through board wipes and forced sacrifice effects. Popular cards for this are Braids, Cabal Minion
, Sheoldred, Whispering One
, Fleshbag Marauder
, Grave Pact
, Butcher of Malakir
, and Damnation
.
Basically, you'd be going the Stax route of resource denial.
Another way to go would be to just use his extremely aggressive 7/5 cost, which means you only have to smack somebody 3 times with him. The hard part is maintaining the extra 5 devotion to turn him on, but you have access to a lot of enablers. You can search through Gatherer to find cards for this, but I'd like to point out that Demonspine Whip
and Fists of the Demigod
(oddly fitting) seem good in this type of build.
I really wish Demigod of Revenge
was better in EDH.

That is certainly one way to go with him. There really isn't any wrong way honestly. He has a lot of possibilities.
My first impression with him is that the longer he is out in play the more his 2 damage clause will have a chance to work. And your opponents will likely keep taking the damage as 2 damage is nothing compared to some of the really impactful creatures of commander. He works to your advantage in the long game really. (Which is funny because RB is all about early aggression usually.)
He's also a 7/5. 7 means 3 swings and your opponent is out.
If I were building around him, I'd think about going for the long haul. I'd work on ways to make creatures really difficult to keep on the board. Combos like Grave Pact and Fleshbag Marauder . Card advantage would also be at a premium. But, I don't think you have to go with big creatures though. I'd go for cheap utility creatures that continue to diminish your opponent's board state while building up your own resources and devotion. Shriekmaw and Hammer of Purphoros would be candidates for this concept.
Anyways, that's my 2 cents.
