I'm introducing my friend to this lovely game called Magic, as he has been keen to start for some time. I need the community's help on building a deck that will meet the following criteria:
Any help is beyond appreciated, and for your help, I'll do something nice for you. I don't know really, you can think of something lol.
- Mono green (in that everything can be played via forests)
- Standard legal
- Only using commons + uncommons (budget!)
- Generic and simple! Mind the fact that he will only be using it to learn. Although do your utmost to still make the deck casually viable

The only thing, Demarge, is that he requested standard-legal

then all he'll need is to take the shell and make a standard legal version, he did say he wanted the community's help, not to essentially build a whole deck for him.
Although one thing that does bug me about the requirements is that the op doesn't seem to be aware that there are a ton of rares and even mythics that are worth less than some commons/uncommons. For instance Guild Feud goes for $0.50 while a Selesnya Charm goes for about $1.

4x Young Wolf 4x Ambush Viper 4x Strangleroot Geist 4x Deadly Recluse 4x Wolfir Avenger 4x Kessig Recluse 2x Acidic Slime 2x Duskdale Wurm
24x Forest
Good on a budget. And has things he should learn about if he's going to play the game (Trample, Regenerate, Undying, Deathtouch, Flash, Reach).

Look at my mono-green deck Elves at the Worldspine, and just remove Thragtusk and put in any creature you want. will run you about $30.

Just made this, pretty basic and can be made for less than 40 dollars. Has some rares, but note that none are above 2 dollars. Check it out: deck:budget-mono-green-for-beginners.

A special thanks to tnath83 and pumpkinsword, I am taking your advice and going along those lines.

I happen to have a very budget mono green deck built, it has some rares in it but the whole deck can be bought for about $16. A big pile of green is the deck which revolves around an etb engine which shouldn't be too difficult to get used to and the deck can easily destroy a lot of casual decks (especially in a casual meta where people still go with the 1/3 of the deck land deckbuilding strategy that isn't actually viable).
