Any input on what should be added and taken away is appreciated.

Fiendslayer Paladin has protection from red and the lifegain is pretty good against burn.
Akroma's Memorial is quite expensive as a 7 drop, but gives all your creatures protection from red.
other cards that has protection from red: Auriok Champion , Kor Firewalker , Opal Guardian , Oversoul of Dusk , Paladin en-Vec , Silver Knight , Sword of Fire and Ice , Sword of War and Peace , Tivadar of Thorn
You could also add Chalice of the Void to counter all spells that cost 1 mana (Lightning Bolt , Burst Lightning , Galvanic Blast , Shock , Flame Slash and so on)..
