honestly guy you wont be able to do what you are wanting to do. White is just not the color for control. The vast majority of control spells are either blue or black. Playing a mono-white control deck is simply not a feasible option especially in a standard format. It may win a couple rounds in a casual game but it is not effective for what you would want to do. :( I would highly recommend going with a Dimir or even Grixis setup for control.

However it is of course your deck my friend so I wish you the best.

t3hSn0wm4n white has lots of control spells, Oblivion Ring for example.

and thank you.

t3hSn0wm4n is unfortunately right. Although white has removal, mono-white lacks sweepers (Supreme Verdict ), card draw (Think Twice , Sphinx's Revelation ), countermagic (Dissipate ), and good finishers (Nephalia Drownyard , AEtherling ), all of which are essential components of a control deck.

Planar Cleansing is a sweeper, Gideon, Champion of Justice is a finisher, it does lack card draw and countermagic, but that's just leaves more room for other cards.

Planar Cleansing is a decent card but for what it does it is entirely too expensive to cast. especially in a situation where your opponent is swinging out and you have not got enough to stop him on the field and dont have the mana BC you tapped out to play some type of critter. on top of that you have the added issue that you will run into people like me who absolutely love to lay down a 10 cent common, Cancel , to counter that spell. whereas Supreme Verdict cannot be countered.

the problem with attempting to run mono white control is the fact that white is almost completely dedicated to healing/lifelink type decks. that is what the majority of white cards are for. hell if you pull it off i will give ya credit for doing it. but from a realistic point of view it simply isnt possible. :(

Lets make one thing really clear right now @Schuesseled

Just because oblivion ring, or for that reason Devour Flesh Dissipate or even Searing Spear will get rid of a creature does not make it a "Control" spell. Control decks are not defined by being able to deal with permanents of every type. If they were, white could, and would be played as a control color because of things like Oblivion Ring . Control decks are characterized by Card Advantage. If you dont understand what that means, Planar Cleansing destroying 3 creatures and a runechanter's pike would net you +3 card advantage. Because white has no card drawing engines, it cannot play as a control color by itself. It simply runs out of cards in hand before you can be in control of who wins the game.

White has plenty of good finishers, and counterspells aren't necessary for a control deck. The necessity to trade for permanents on a 1 for 1 basis like Oblivion Ring Pacifism etc, you need draw engines. Sphinx's Revelation Think Twice . There are none in white.

You can go mono white, just SPLASH blue for card draw. Easy 123. then you could use Detention Sphere . Conley woods mono black deck had red in it, so why can't your mono white have blue?

i don't have the lands Trumbone, as soon as i do i intend to splash blue, i would be a moron not to, but for now it is mono white.

@Weston Ayarza card advantage is only half of what a control deck does, the other half is about removal or countering. I realise i don't have card advantage here in the usual sense, but detain effects are a form of card advantage. Stopping their cards from doing anything whilst mine do what i want. Although actual card advantage would be better.

White can have a chance of mono color control, but it would be difficult... and I'm not sure his deck currently does it.

Mentor of the Meek , if used well could create a HUGE card advantage, and if you plan on getting to mid-range, there is also Staff of Nin ... there may also be a way to abuse Otherworld Atlas

Terminus , Planar Cleansing , and even Divine Reckoning can be used for board wipes... if you get to a later game, you may even be able to use Rootborn Defenses to keep your creatures through a wipe.

White also has all sorts of interesting tricks it can use, such as Ghostly Possession on a Palisade Giant ... or the much under appreciated Divine Deflection .

ooooooo Palisade Giant looks fun

Mentor of the Meek !, great suggestion. See isn't that better than saying "meh white can't do card advantage, you smell, nerner, buy dual lands!"

thanks Rayenous.
