Multiplayer PEDH
Deck Help forum

Just built my first Pauper EDH deck with Rix Maadi Guildmage , it runs great but has some difficulty dealing with more than one opponent.
I need help with ideas for a deck with a more multiplayer focused strategy. Any suggestions and ideas would be more than welcome, though i'm more looking for strategy suggestions, General's i can look for on my own (i kinda like researching them to find a fit lol).

do you have any suggestions for other colors? I think i wanna leave the R/B one the way it is.

For multiplayer, I've enjoyed the most success with my Sigil Captain Pauper EDH deck because it has lots of ways to produce creatures. Prior to RTR, I think Inkfathom Witch was the best general, but after RTR I think Vitu-Ghazi Guildmage might have the edge because of the power and ramp that green provides.
Here are some cards I consider to be good in PEDH.
White: probably the weakest color, or tied with red for the weakest. Aura based removal is actually good in PEDH.card:Faith's FettersOblivion Ring Guardian of the Guildpact Kor Sanctifiers Totem-Guide Hartebeest Soltari Visionary Seraph of Dawn
Blue: probably the strongest color if built with a good supporting color, thanks to card draw, tutors (transmute cards), and strong countersTrinket Mage Capsize Mulldrifter Rhystic Study Mystic Remora Deep Analysis Archaeomancer , Scrivener , Mnemonic Wall Sea Gate Oracle Arcane Denial , Counterspell , etcNeurok Stealthsuit
Black: probably 2nd strongest color thanks to sweepers, recursion, and tutors (transmute cards)Rend Flesh Disturbed Burial card:Evincar's JusticePestilence (Crypt Rats )Blessing of Leeches Doom Blade Murder Ashes to Ashes Grim Harvest
Red: Probably 4th strongest color when it is supporting another color, terrible on its own.Bloodfire Infusion Rolling Thunder Anarchist Fireball pingers like Vithian Stinger Fissure
Green: probably 3rd strongest. Largest creatures, ramp, great supporting colorYavimaya Elder Explore and various other ramp spellsLignify Ondu Giant Citanul Woodreaders Oakgnarl Warrior Sprout Swarm Rancor Wickerbough Elder Penumbra Spider Mold Shambler Krosan Tusker Spidersilk Armor

what do you think of Bloodbraid Elf and Voracious Cobra as generals?
also with Bloodbraid Elf ; if she dies, goes to the general zone, and I re-cast her. does cascade trigger off her new higher CMC or the original?

Bloodbraid Elf can be good if you're careful about choosing your low-cmc cards. I would look for sac outlets like card:Ashnod's Altar or bounce spells to reuse her. Her cascade ability will always count her CMC as 4. The CMC is determined only by the printed cost on the card. The Commander tax is an additional cost, which doesn't affect the CMC.
I'm not very fond of Voracious Cobra as a general since the ability is a bit hard to take advantage of. I can't think of any Lure -type effects at common, but if there are any it makes the cobra much better. A 2/2 for 4 is overcosted, and your opponent will typically choose to not block this guy, or they will chump block if you're approaching 21 commander damage. Since it has to deal combat damage, it can't take advantage of Viridian Longbow either :\

"until you exile a card that costs less", that leads me to believe that it would take the general cost into account. It's so vague though that I'm unsure :(
I checked on the lure thing last night, there are only 2 common lure effects, and one of them was only common in one of the masters edition's

Don't worry, you're not the first person to question how cascade works for generals. Maelstrom Wanderer caused confusion for a little while too.
From the comprehensive rules:
702.83a Cascade is a triggered ability that functions only while the spell with cascade is on the stack. Cascade means "When you cast this spell, exile cards from the top of your library until you exile a nonland card whose converted mana cost is less than this spells converted mana cost. You may cast that card without paying its mana cost. Then put all cards exiled this way that werent cast on the bottom of your library in a random order."
Also see the gatherer rulings for Maelstrom Wanderer if you still aren't sure: http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=338447

lol well that makes considerably more sense, I'm liking Sigil Captain a lot and i think i may go with him, do you have any other suggestions?

Beyond those, the Innistrad lords cycle (Drogskol Captain , Diregraf Ghoul , etc) are fairly powerful, and the RTR Guildmages are good. Mistmeadow Witch has enough support from ETB triggers like Mulldrifter and AEther Adept to also be very good.

Skip small creatures, add large creatures and evasion. Pack in as many repeatable effects as possible (creatures with activated abilities, buyback, flashback, etc). Card draw is hugely important. Sweepers are hard to come by, but are game-changing. In black, card:Evincar's Justice and Pestilence are great and red has Bloodfire Infusion . Black also has Disturbed Burial . Whispersilk Cloak goes in every deck. Most importantly, have a plan of how you are going to win.
