Necrotic Ooze Scars block deck.

Deck Help forum

I'm trying to think an idea for a Necrotic OozeMTG Card: Necrotic Ooze deck using ONLY core sets and the Scars block. Any ideas are welcome.

Best I've come up with so far would be something like:

gidieon's-lawkeeper + Royal AssassinMTG Card: Royal Assassin + SolitonMTG Card: Soliton (all in graveyard) equals board wipe. Problem is the mana requirement that SolitonMTG Card: Soliton would need. I could add Alloy MyrMTG Card: Alloy Myr or Silver MyrMTG Card: Silver Myr to the graveyard, but for that to work, I would need them to produce double mana instead. Without the Myrs, it's still effective. Basically it's like having a creature with "(U): Destroy target creature."

Suggestions? Improvements?

It would also be nice to have an enchantment that gave me +1/+_ whenever a creature was put into a graveyard.

That's pretty nice.

My favorite combo with the Ooze is . Since the Ooze can't transform, the scholar's ability just untaps him if you toss a creature. Plus, the Ooze likes more creatures in the graveyard, so it's win-win.

Another Innistrad combo is Grimgrin, Corpse-BornMTG Card: Grimgrin, Corpse-Born and Lord of LineageMTG Card: Lord of Lineage. Infinite +1/+1 and creature enter the battlefield/morbid triggers (For Falkenrath NobleMTG Card: Falkenrath Noble, for example).

It's kinda my thing with deck building. I like to stick to single blocks, and use core sets to fill in holes.

I like the Spikeshot ElderMTG Card: Spikeshot Elder idea.

I was also thinking of building around some souleaters, especially Trespassing SouleaterMTG Card: Trespassing Souleater, Immolating SouleaterMTG Card: Immolating Souleater, and Pestilent SouleaterMTG Card: Pestilent Souleater. If I end up doing R/B with the Spikeshot ElderMTG Card: Spikeshot Elder, I would have extra red mana to load up on +1/+0 counters, then spend 4 life to give him infect and unblockable.

Wow, yeah. I forgot about the Souleaters.

The downside to building around a single creature is when you don't draw it or it gets removed. For a casual deck, it's fine. You just need to find a way to protect him. Swiftfoot BootsMTG Card: Swiftfoot Boots would be particularly nice for him.
