Need a simple deck

Deck Help forum

So recently my younger brother who has autism recently developed a taste for teh magicz. Though he likes the game the stock decks he has right now are getting crushed by my handcrafted ones and it isn't really fair for him (but he takes his butt kicking like a pro at least! Does anyone have any recommendations to put together a rule simplistic / minimal strategy deck which is reasonably competitive against a decent casual budget deck? He likes MTG, but the cards with complex rules/abilities tend to overwhelm him at times.

Ex: He cast Chain of Plasma against my Tainted Spellbook Grixis deck while he was at 3 life.

You could always make him a basic Green deck with mana ramp and big creatures.

Throw a Primal Bellow on a Dungrove Elder and let him have some fun. :)

I would suggest a mono-green deck as well. Insert basic ramp, some big creatures that feel awesome to land on the field, and maybe some enchantments and combat tricks. You can even craft on for around 50 to 100 bucks and make it kick ass with some plainswalkers as well.

Yes, yes. TheDevicer has it right.

You could use Rancor , Rampant Growth , Cultivate , Giant Growth and things of that nature. :)

you could always go with Red Deck Wins, it's simple, cheap, and effective

That's another option if your brother wants a more aggressive deck. Low cost creatures with haste or other similar aggro mechanics combined with burn. Let your brother scorch the field.

Ask for his opinion. Does he want behemoths or a furious hoard of goblins?

Yeah, mono-green smash face is a pretty simple deck. If he likes something more like Goblins then that is pretty simple too.

Red deck wins is the simplest and effective. Also the r/b aggro

Both Elves and Goblins tribal are fairly simple as far as I know, and ramp is a pretty straight forward strategy which can be satisfying if you lie landing giant creatures. Congrats on helping a new player learn magic. Always good to see new players.

You could always do Mono-Green vanilla with Kalonian Tusker and Leatherback Baloth , combined with some ramp effects to make a stream of undercosted fatties. That's the simplest deck I can think of.

Really nice that you're teaching an autistic family member magic! It's a game that can really help sharpen decision making and planning. I wish you the best of luck.
