Alright so currently I was working on a G/W Hexproof/Auras deck for standard and upon trying to help Spootyone with a Dark Selesnya Aggro deck concept (I showed my variant in what I would do), I become split between this new deck concept which I created and my current deck concept. So I would like less bias'ed people help me determine which is overall better.

New Concept - My Variation of Spootyone's Idea

Current Deck - Standard GW Hexproof Auras

Please also let me know whether these two decks are too close to make a determination on which is better.

It honestly depends on what your meta looks like.

If you're going to be going to the top level events like PTQs or SCGOpens, I'd say go with the new concept. Mono black players right now are bringing in playsets of Devour fleshes mainboard to help get rid of Blood Baron, and that card also kind of destroys hexproof strategies.

If you only plan on sticking to fnms and such, i'd say go with the hexproof just because it's a very good strategy against people not expecting it.

The Dark Selesnya deck looks really powerful. The G/W Hexproof deck could work, but even though it's rogue people already have ways to deal with it. Devour Flesh and Supreme Verdict are mainboard cards that crush hexproof. Dark Selesnya whereas is much more resilient and unexpected. I would definitely go with that.

Yeah I like the Dark Selesnya better after trying it out online for a bit. It has similar advantages as the auras deck in being able to pump quick and early or get big in mid-game without having the disadvantages of being able to remove the aura. It does not as much evasion however and my targets are a bit more vulnerable to targetting but the regen helps a lot to make up for that lack.

I did remove some lands to make room for more creatures but I felt Grisly Salvage with Varolz, the Scar-Striped or to reach for him mid-game is too crucial. It binds my deck together overall and helps create awesome synergy. At its worst, it can help me fish for a land color that I might desparately need even though nearly all my colors revolve around green and an off-color, issues can come up regarding colors still. This deck is also far more resilient to Supreme Verdicts and removal, because removal can often lead to scavenge fodder. I'm not heavily leaning on Varolz, the Scar-Striped but he's still important and makes my games easier. I do have Boon Satyr as another option for mid-game using his bestow and has worked out great so far. This deck overall has a lot more synergy than expected.
