Hi, been wanting to make a dragon deck since I got my m14 booster box. I have mainly M14 cards obviously, including:2x Dragon Egg 4x Dragon Hatchling 1x Scourge of Valkas 1x Shivan Dragon 1x Hellkite Igniter 1x Two-Headed Dragon

I want to make it red/green/black, since my friend told me that's good dragon deck colours. He also gave me a bunch of cards which would be good, including:

3x Blightening1x Flesh//Blood1x Rain of Gore 1x Dreadbore 1x Warstorm Surge And lastly, Kresh the Bloodbraided .

I can get the guild gates, and I have a heap of black, green and red cards from M14.

Any suggestions for cards for this deck would be very welcome :)

I made a strong Dragon deck and it's Red/Green/White... you can go see the list on my page, airborne44, and adjust for the color change if you still want to run Black instead of White.

Hellkite Overlord .

You may now begin drooling. XD

Birthing Pod might be nice because well, dragon's are expensive and pod isn't. This would require that you sort of build up your creature base around having several 3-drops, four-drops, five-drops, six-drops etc. Basically, you have to sort of build your creature curves.

Utvara Hellkite is screaming for a place in this deck. It synergizes very well with Mutavault , but mutavault might be out of your budget atm because of its demand in standard right now. When it rotates, it'll go back down to $10-15 though, so that might become an option later on.

Sarkhan Vol has an ultimate ability you might be interested in.

Kaalia of the Vast because she's Chuck Norris's wife. This sadly requires that you also play white, but how could you pass up the opportunity of her? If you run four Birds of Paradise , you'll be set on the white you need for her.

Thanks, awesome suggestions :D

I'm going to go all out with this deck. I want to beat all my friends with it. It's gonna be amazing if I pull it off XD

If you wanna be mean, use Mycosynth Lattice with Vandalblast overloaded, or just swing with Hellkite Tyrant to take all of their permanents and then win the game with Hellkite Tyrant 's ability. This is me just being silly I guess. XD

I just want to say, that I wouldn't attempt going tri colored unless you already have the necessary lands. Simply just guildgates will make punish your deck a lot, as they will come into play tapped. Usually people tend to run fetch lands and shock lands which will cost quite a bit. If you have those, or are willing to buy them, then go ahead. Otherwise, I would consider dropping it down to dual colored; most of the dragons are red so you can go red + another color.

This is my old Innistrad/Return to Ravnica Standard brew How to Wake Your Dragon. It's still fun as heck to play casually. :)

One thing I will say about dragons is ramp is usually a must and good, cheap to cast dragons are few and far between. -Logician makes a good point with Birthing Pod . You could use some Turn 1 mana dorks for a Turn 2 pod, then use the general array of Modern Pod goodies with ETB and LTB effects or persist/undying to sacrifice and work your way up the ladder to some flying fatties.

If you want to make use of the cheap dragons, Descendants' Path is a good way to go. Urza's Incubator , Dragonspeaker Shaman , and Heartless Summoning can lower costs to play the big ones.
