Need some help with Naya EDH
Deck Help forum

Hello,
Here's my Marath-Naya EDH Deck:
Beastiality | Marath, Will of the Wild EDH
There are a few cards I'd like to get into the deck:
Godsire , Cleaver Riot & Tooth and Nail
Which cards would should I take out?
I'm wondering how good Deadwood Treefolk really is; could that one be replaced by Godsire ? Albeit I planned to flick the Treefolk with Conjurer's Closet but perhaps that is not a necessary combo...
I recelty added Ulvenwald Tracker as a supplementary card to Contested Cliffs ; was that a bad decision? Just wonder if it is a waste of a card-slot as he will be bolted as quickly as Elvish Piper .
Would it be a bad decision of removing any of the charms?
All suggestions are welcome, but I won't promise that I'll agree with all of them. ;-)

In my experience, Deadwood Treefolk is quite good. If he resolves, you're guaranteed 2 creatures back from your graveyard...
Looking at your deck, I'm not convinced that Conjurer's Closet should have a slot in this deck...only 5 creatures in the deck can really take advantage of it. I would drop it for Godsire .
Of the three charms you have, I think Gruul Charm is the least useful. Most fliers I see in EDH have more than 3 toughness, and the Brand mode is really situational. Unless your meta has lots of small fliers or lots of creature stealing, consider swapping out Gruul Charm for Tooth and Nail .
In regards to Cleaver Riot I'm not a huge fan, if only because it only lasts for a turn. I think True Conviction or Rage Reflection would be better.
Also, I agree with nobu_the_bard in regards to Ulvenwald Tracker ...

First off, thank you for your reply.
As nobu_the_bard just suggested Eternal Witness as a replacement for Nature's Spiral I see a use of both Deadwood Treefolk and Conjurer's Closet . Yes I know only a few creatures can benefit from it, but still... I used to have Sylvan Primordial in this deck which is a killer with Conjurer's Closet , but as that got banned the cards utilizing the Closet got reduced a bit.
I was thinking, that perhaps I can manage without Cleaver Riot . So far I've won witout it (or without Savage Beating ). True Conviction has the issue of triple-white-mana... I don't like that... It's like with Avacyn, Angel of Hope .... Also, what card would you take out for either of those cards providing double-strike?
I still haven't aquired Gruul Charm and honestly, I haven't needed it yet either... So perhpahs I could scrap it for Tooth and Nail ... Still I really like the first ability of Gruul Charm ...

Forgot: Should you also suggest for me to remove Homeward Path for another land aswell then if you didn't like the ability from Gruul Charm ?

If it were me, I'd keep at least Homeward Path . It does not offer much disadvantage for its ability (as it can still tap for mana) while the argument can be made that Gruul Charm 's abilities are more situational.

I have no issue with Homeward Path , but that's because it's a land that also taps for mana (as nobu_the_bard just said). Given the option to run it vs. a basic land, there's really no reason not to run Homeward Path . Gruul Charm takes a slot in your deck that could be something that's useful all of the time. Also, as nobu_the_bard pointed out, I failed to notice the enchantments that can benefit from any creature entering the battlefield, so I can see how Conjurer's Closet would be useful more often.
I wasn't necessarily saying to take anything out for True Conviction or Rage Reflection , I was just comparing them to Cleaver Riot in terms of usefulness over time. If you don't think you need Cleaver Riot , then you'll probably manage without True Conviction or Rage Reflection .

@angrycelery & nobu_the_bard: I thank you so much for your input so far! Really has helped me a lot.
Next on the topic: Armada Wurm . I don't know why I haven't thought of that guy before, but after looking through nobu_the_bard's Naya-EDH, I realized how good that can be; it's essentially 10/10 for 6 mana.
But again: Card-slot issues. The only cards I see as a suitable take-out for the Wurm are the following: Crowned Ceratok , Fangren Firstborn , Gahiji, Honored One & Spellbreaker Behemoth .
Issues:
All of the following cards are Beasts, and replacing it with another non-beast creature further reduces the trigger ability of AEther Charge & Wirewood Savage . On the other hand there are 4 cards that make beast-tokens and Marath, Will of the Wild is re-castable, so I don't know... Is that a good or a bad choice?
Spellbreaker Behemoth is a 5/57 for 4CMC, which is rather good.
Gahiji, Honored One effectively re-directs attacks from me.
Fangren Firstborn is the weakest in this link, and I have yet not been able to use his ability, but he effectively enables the ability of Crowned Ceratok single handedly. Or should I remove Crowned Ceratok (as I just added Overwhelming Stampede ) thus making Fangren Firstborn unnecessary? Or should I just replace Crowned Ceratok with the Armada Wurm ?
Do you see an option to change another card apart from those mentioned?
And I'm still thinking about some of the suggestions you made.
Thanks again for all the help you've given so far.

I think swapping out Fangren Firstborn for Armada Wurm is your best bet. Yes, it's one less beast in the deck, but your commander, which you always have access to, can spam out 1/1 beasts on his own, so AEther Charge and Wirewood Savage remain relevant. Your commander can also enable Crowned Ceratok on the fly, and giving your fatties trample is too good to not use.

I wish Marath, Will of the Wild would spit out beast-tokens, but they are elemental-tokens, not beasts.

Oh. Balls. I actually have a Marath, Will of the Wild deck, but I almost never use the token option. My mistake...
That changes my opinion then. I guess you have to ask yourself if you want to keep the deck a beast-tribal deck or not. My deck, Terms of Enrampagement, started out as a beast-tribal deck, but now its just a naya beatdown deck that happens to have several beasts. Check out my deck for some ideas if that's the route you want your deck to go.
If you want to keep it beast-tribal, then I'd suggest switching out Crowned Ceratok for Armada Wurm instead. Upon closer examination of your deck, I noticed you had two separate creatures that gives everyone trample, so the ceratok might be OK to cut. Might I also suggest Gruul Ragebeast ?

I agree that Fangren Firstborn is probably the least useful of the creatures you named. The main reason my deck includes Armada Wurm actually is that I obtained one for free; but also, my deck needed more tramplers (my deck contains no tools to grant it currently). Your deck will probably make better use of it, since it interacts with so many different abilities you have available (Conjurer's Closet for example).

Now I've done all the updates I've had in mind and, thank to you, have been able to figure out HOW to change.

I would say that if you are using the Fight mechanic for removal, that the more of it you have, the more consistently you can abuse it, so you should include both the Ulvenwald Tracker and Contested Cliffs . I'll look at the deck myself and see if I can make suggestions.
