Need suggestions - Curses
Deck Help forum

I'm trying to make a Curse deck for casual multiplayer. I'm trying to keep it standard and make use the of the curse cards from Innistrad and Dark Ascension. It has real trouble with stalling the game until I can get the curses out, any help would be greatly appreciated.
black green is pretty fun to do this with, you use Bitterheart Witch and you can stack with Prey Upon and mana ramp to get her out early and take out their creatures while searching for your curses. use the witch to get a misfortunes and if you get another witch you can get another misfortunes so you can search your library for 2 more curses every upkeep. play all those fun little fog effect spells [[fog], Moonmist , Clinging Mists along with Curse of the Nightly Hunt will let you prevent all the damage that their creatures might do, and in turn leave you a free battlefield to nail them because they have no blockers. a more pressing issue is getting a Curse of Echoes against control, its too good. everytime they play an instant (every counter in the game) you get to copy the instant. you copy their counter and put it on the stack and counter their counter. blue black also has very little enchantment removal which is nice for you. aggro will pose a threat though.
one last thing. if they manage to kill the curses, or you kill the opponent in multiplayer and they all go to your graveyard, you can shuffle them in with Memory's Journey and you can get them all back to your hand with Creeping Renaissance . its pretty neat.

Also consider having some indestructible creatures as blockers - I've been using Creepy Doll and Manor Gargoyle in this fashion in a throw-together burn deck. You'll definitely want some manna ramp as curse cards and those two blockers aren't cheap. Maybe some Llanowar Elves or Viridian Emissary for early mana boosts, and or some undying creatures (like Strangleroot Geist !) as early blockers.
I'd very much like to see what your deck looks like after you've put it together and played it a bit!

Ok, I found your deck (Curses!) and I see you've already got Manor Gargoyle in your sideboard - lol! And it's B/R/U, so forget my comment about the elves too!
Instead of Exsanguinate , how about some trusty ol' Fireballs? 1 CMC cheaper and would be damage doubled by Curse of Bloodletting .
BTW, how are you going to cast Curse of Exhaustion without any white mana generation?

Wow, tons of comments!
XPostalServiceX: Yep, pierced heart is a great curse at only 2 CMC. I'm going to leave out Death's Hold to save room and because I don't actually own any right now.
UmbrotheUmbreon: Running 4 of them.
Witteee: Not running any green but those are all good suggestions.
pizzadevourer: Thanks, you seem like the only person who actually looked at my deck. I'm definitely thinking about running fireball now that someone pointed out the lack of combo with Curse of Bloodletting . I'm thinking about revising a lot of the extra stuff to try to stall with blue counter spell and black creature removal to try to delay them till turn 5 when I can get curses out.
I only cast Curse of Exhaustion using Curse of Misfortunes . Yes, it's very annoying to draw it but I think it's better than running another color. I'm considering trading out Blue for White, though.

Really thinking of adding some Tribute to Hunger in there. I updated the deck from your suggestions. It's getting there slowly.

I'd keep Tribute to Hunger in your sideboard - it's only useful against decks with a few scary creatures. Opponent gets to choose which creature to sack, and for humans, spirits, zombies, tokens, etc. they should have lots of cheap creatures to toss unless you've done a good job of keeping the small creatures culled.
As for ditching blue for white, I can't think of what you'd be getting for that. Seems to me that there are more blue curses and control cards that are in theme with your deck idea than white would offer. But maybe you have some neat ideas - if so, post it and we'll have a look!

I have to agree, I don't see any advantage to taking up white as a full color in favor or blue. Blue's curses are SO good its unreal, not to mention they have the draw ability to get you those curses into your hand, and dump the cards you don't need right away. Unless of course you were playing Mesa Enchantress and making it straight up black white control and splashing the blue curses that you need/want to play. Come to think of it, with Curse of Misfortunes , or even multiple of them would draw you almost 3 cards a turn so long as you have a cruse to search for. Hmm...maybe by the sets end enchantments/auras will be in again, and it will be Urza's block with vampires HAHA.

Curse of the Pierced Heart is always fun to stack up, its like hey its you upkeep lose 4 life every turn. Curse of Death's Hold is pretty good too by it self but if you can manage to get like 2 or 3 on the same guy their screwed. just google the heck out of it and you will find what your looking for but deffinely use those two curses !! :D hope i could help
