Need Suggestions - White Green Humans

Deck Help forum

Any suggestions for my white green human deck? Anything to add that's better or remove that doesn't fit? Tips would be great, thanks.

Only thing I see personally that I'm a bit weary of is that you have no removal at all. Also you have a huge amount of land for a white deck. Are you gunning for the flashback on Increasing DevotionMTG Card: Increasing Devotion??

If you know any removal that is optimal for my deck please feel free to suggest any ideas. It would be ideal for me to flashback on Increasing DevotionMTG Card: Increasing Devotion and I guess I can remove a land or two. Thanks for your input.

My personal suggestion would be Beast WithinMTG Card: Beast Within.

I'd also suggest putting Elite InquisitorMTG Card: Elite Inquisitor in your sideboard for Doomed TravelerMTG Card: Doomed Traveler.

If you have a Parallel LivesMTG Card: Parallel Lives out, you can even use Beast WithinMTG Card: Beast Within offensively by using it on a Doomed TravelerMTG Card: Doomed Traveler and turning him into 2 1/1 flying spirits and 2 3/3 beasts. Sounds like a good trade off to me.

Haha that sounds like a great play, a very versatile combo indeed. It's great to have someone that knows their cards, thanks a lot.

I have been mulling this over in my head for the past few days or so after drafting some really cool stuff and 4/0-ing at my FNM. I don't know if it is just because it was limited and I got some bomb cards, or if there is actually something to see here, but it redefined stompy.

I splashed blue for because I popped a foil one and got a janky given the right circumstances. turn one play delver, turn two draw Hunger of the HowlpackMTG Card: Hunger of the Howlpack flip the delver and play Deranged OutcastMTG Card: Deranged Outcast, turn three play a, Elder CatharMTG Card: Elder Cathar, swing with Delver 2 times (turn two and turn 3), then turn four, sacrifice the cathar to the outcast and give the delver 4 +1/+1 counters, and since theres morbid, you can take that higher to 7 +1/+1 counters with the Hunger of the HowlpackMTG Card: Hunger of the Howlpack.

Now is it all realistic? probably not, but I got it to work and my opponent scooped because I was at 20 and he was at 4 with no removal haha. Avacyn's CollarMTG Card: Avacyn's Collar gives anything you have +1/+0 and vigilance which is nuts, and if you have all humans, you get a spirit when the creature dies. pretty nuts, an equipment that gives any of your humans Doomed TravelerMTG Card: Doomed Traveler's ability, and if you play around sacrificing your humans to make the rest of your humans NUTTY, its pretty fast.

You can try bant humans because everything is splashable. you don't HAVE to play the double white casting cost humans, most aren't terribly AWESOME. In my book, Deranged OutcastMTG Card: Deranged Outcast is a must, and against control and if you try what I suggested, Thalia, Guardian of ThrabenMTG Card: Thalia, Guardian of Thraben is too good.

Wow, thanks a lot for your in depth advice. I would certainly take a look into those cards and strategies and test it out in my deck. I guess now I would need to remove some unnecessary cards to try out the new. Any suggestions for that?

Keep in mind that Adaptive AutomatonMTG Card: Adaptive Automaton does NOT trigger Champion of the ParishMTG Card: Champion of the Parish. I'm sure you already knew that, though. Because of this, Grand AbolisherMTG Card: Grand Abolisher might be a better choice. It will slow down your opponent by forcing them to use removal during their turn, effectively giving them 1-3 less mana to cast creatures. You might also consider some mana acceleration from Avacyn's PilgrimMTG Card: Avacyn's Pilgrim or Birds of ParadiseMTG Card: Birds of Paradise.

Looks good overall, but I'd also add NaturalizeMTG Card: Naturalize to deal with pesky enchantments and equipment (i.e. Swords).

On another note, I agree that you have FAR too much land. Land should be about 33% of your deck. A good formula is 20 creatures, 20 other cards (instant, enchantment, sorcery, artifact, and planeswalker), and 20 land.

You'll need enough green mana to ensure having one for turn 1 if you choose to go with the 1-drop creatures I suggested. After turn 1, though, you don't need much green mana since your only other green cards are Parallel LivesMTG Card: Parallel Lives and Hamlet CaptainMTG Card: Hamlet Captain. Flashing back Increasing DevotionMTG Card: Increasing Devotion is great, but you will likely lose the game before that happens if you can't get something else out on the board. Rely on mana producers I suggested and you should get the flashback soon enough.

Oh... I always thought Adaptive AutomatonMTG Card: Adaptive Automaton triggered Champion of the ParishMTG Card: Champion of the Parish, or so I've heard. Can anyone else clarify this for me? I believe Grand AbolisherMTG Card: Grand Abolisher and Avacyn's PilgrimMTG Card: Avacyn's Pilgrim to be good choices as well but I guess I will have to do further testing. I might also add NaturalizeMTG Card: Naturalize in addition to my Oblivion RingMTG Card: Oblivion Ring. Thanks for the feedback.

P.S. Here's my take on G/W Humans: G/W Token Army

The deck still needs some work, but I'm hoping that Avacyn Restored will bring about some good options.

I always thought mana was suppose to be 40% of my deck as that is what I have heard from a friend. Haha, I guess I've lived a lie all this time. I will consider adding some mana producers instead.

Adaptive AutomatonMTG Card: Adaptive Automaton ENTERS the battlefield as a "Construct". It doesn't become a human until you name it. At that point, it will + your other humans, but there is that one drawback.

I was trying to use it in a vampire deck so I could bloodthirst an Automaton after Bloodlord of VaasgothMTG Card: Bloodlord of Vaasgoth comes out. My friend pointed out my mistake.

Hmm. Maybe my friend was wrong...

Ahh I see, thanks for the clarification. Maybe your friend was trying to trick you?

March 8, 2012 12:06 a.m.

notinuse says... #16

Quite possibly. A 5/5 Automaton on turn 6 that gives all my other vampires +1/+1 is probably something he didn't like very much. lol

notinuse says... #17

Actually, after a second read, he was right. I'm casting a Construct, so it doesn't gain bloodthirst 3.

It WILL trigger Champion of the ParishMTG Card: Champion of the Parish in your case, though. Still, I think Grand AbolisherMTG Card: Grand Abolisher is a much better card for your deck.

March 8, 2012 12:11 a.m.

I've often fell short of a victory against my friends due to a Mana LeakMTG Card: Mana Leak or such counter spell cards. Grand AbolisherMTG Card: Grand Abolisher is probably a good choice.

March 8, 2012 12:17 a.m.

notinuse says... #19

Unless they Mana LeakMTG Card: Mana Leak your Grand AbolisherMTG Card: Grand Abolisher. :D

Just have 4 of them in your deck and you're likely to push right through the counterspells.

Went with O-Ring over Beast WithinMTG Card: Beast Within? I have to disagree with this choice. O-Ring is easily removed, can't really be used offensively, and is not an instant. While it does give them a 3/3 beast token, a 3/3 creature is not one that your deck has much issue with as far as I can tell. If you don't have Beast WithinMTG Card: Beast Within, O-Ring is definitely the next best choice though.

March 8, 2012 3:18 a.m.

I left Beast WithinMTG Card: Beast Within in my aquire list because all I have now is Oblivion RingMTG Card: Oblivion Ring. I plan to have 2 of each in my deck once I get around to going to the store. Do you think that's a better choice or should I have 4 Beast WithinMTG Card: Beast Within instead?
