So this is what Im going to try against a control deck that's whooping down on me at FNM. Jundy DOOM! (Anti-Control Version) . I need to beat this guy, he comes in 1st every week. Please leave me some suggestions, thanks!

i do not intend to sound hateful sir, but ok, you say you want to beat this one guy in your FNM, so you make a deck. Let's say the deck you're making is the total weakness of his deck. There still is no guarantee that the deck you are going to make will do well against the other 4-5 people you are going against round by round. you have to consider the meta and not just one person.

This is my opinion only.

instead you should use a sideboard with cards like Duress , another 2 Slaughter Games and hexproof creatures for when you are against him.. Maybe Witchbane Orb too if he targets you alot..

weakmopre I agree with you in this statement. If you tailor your deck to hate on a specific deck, there is no guarantee it will beat the other decks at FNM. The sideboard is where you go to tune your deck to win more. More anti-control cards in the sideboard would help you in game 2 or game 3.

Here's how to beat control: Liliana of the Veil .

But seriously. Siding in Duress or Appetite for Brains and Slaughter Games will really set back a control deck, because a control deck.... uh... controls.... by maintaining a hand.

Either that or just be super fast.

I here what you are saying weakmopre, and I have considered this. The deck is still pretty aggro, and this control deck is the only serious competition in my meta. Theres also no guarantee ill even get paired against him. Im keeping a lot of pieces of my regular aggro deck as sideboard this week. We'll see.

@fluffybunnypants i had not considered liliana, but i have a couple so I can definitely try to make room for her.

stuff like vexing devil isnt the big weakness of control, its 4dmg then the creatures gone and you lose card advantage...or let it resolve and just searing spear it.

control has biggest issues with strong midrange. cards with undying, indestructible or create multiple creatures like huntmaster/ garruks. since most control decks dont play much on their turn, voice of resurgence is a major issue. same with like domri, hard for control to get rid of, especially if you drop it turn 2-3, and you gain card advantage.

Well, I came in 3rd at FNM this week. Didn't get paired against the guy i made the deck against, and he ran a different deck this week anyways. But I did play against a VERY similar deck, and crushed them. Ranger's Guile and Armed / Dangerous were definitely the MVP for me this week. Im definitely going to mainboard a 3rd one in my regular jund deck. xzavierx, I disagree with you about Vexing Devil . The 4 damage by itself, is helpful but youre right definitely not a game changer. But dropping varolz and scavenging vexing devil onto Thundermaw Hellkite or anything really IS a game changer. And Im not playing midrange anyways, at least not in standard.

Thanks you everyone for your suggestions and help, FNM wouldnt have been the same with out y'all.'
