New Mechanic + Underplayed Mechanic = Potential?

Deck Help forum

So, everyone's seen the new Heroic mechanic, and we all know of Cipher and it's avoided cards, so, what if we used them together? Seeing as Heroic says when you cast a spell that targets and Cipher says you cast the copy, they have good synergy, right? So, if you're picking up what I'm putting down, check out this deck and let's perfect it! :P

Artisans of Cipher

I think it would probably be lackluster. The cipher card needs to be individually strong to justify running it. Heroic isn't even a good enough reason to attempt it, in my opinion. Perhaps it would be playable in casual, but not in constructed.

Maybe with enough luck we can buff the lackluster deck into a top 8 deck at FNM. All it takes is a little work. I'm not trying to make the most competitive deck in standard, I just wanna have fun. :)

Then why worry about doing well at an FNM? lol

Personally, I think Hidden Strings may be strong enough to work with Heroic... I'm going to be looking at it in a W/U deck. Combine the fast White +1/+1 counter Heroic creatures , with Wavecrash Triton and Artisan of Forms .

1-2 Wavecrash Triton out with Hidden Strings can make for creatures that get through each turn.

Throw in a bunch of good W/U control style removal like Azorius Charm and Detention Sphere , and you should be good to go.

Cause consistently losing isn't fun. Lol. Admittedly, most of the people at my local shop net deck the decks the pros are using, but I like making random home brews that are fun and efficient. I'm not going to try to go pro at Magic, I have career plans, but placing high at FNM is a good feeling that lacks it's real fun if its just a deck you copy from someone else. Plus, everyone wants their deck to do good; I don't understand why anyone that goes wouldn't worry about doing well at FNM. O.o regardless, thanks for checking out then post and whatnot!

Rayenous: Yeah, all the white Heroic cards seem pretty aggro, so I can see damage getting through pretty often, especially with blue. Azorius Aggro looks like it could be a pretty nasty. Best wishes on your deck! Ill have to check it out when you're done to see how you put it together. :)

Uh no, it's just as fun. Copying someone's 75 isn't a guaranteed victory, you still have to play well.

Good point, good point. Thanks for your input! Your consistent contradictions are always a delight. :)

I will be attempting a competitive control deck with the Agent of the Fates black heroic creature, and I believe it will have some potential. I think I'll start making the deck here right now, It's something I want to try, in addition to a token-hate dimir control...

Heck, I think Agent of the Fates will be the closest replacement for Vampire Nighthawk in Standard.
