No Shocklands? Just give up?

Deck Help forum

I've been working on a Jund Midrange deck, but I have only one Shockland to match my colors, that being a Blood Crypt Should I just give up on a 3 color deck without the Shocklands, I mean I have guildgates, and Temple of Abandon 's, but I know that's slower and just not the same.

If you are planning on taking it to FNM and you aren't running a Maze End deck then yes, in all honestly you should. If it for casual fun then use whatever you want.

If you're looking to be competitive, to me, Shocklands are a must.. especially with 3 color decks. If you're simply looking to play tabletop, or show up at an FNM to have fun you should run with the idea whether or not you have Shocks. You can still have fun without having a perfect mana base. :)

Thinking I'm just gunna hold off on it tell I can muster up 100+ dollars on Shocklands xD I wonder whats gunna happen to them when they go out of standard in like 9 months, I mean its a while away, but still. How are 3 color decks going to survive off Scry Lands alone.

Well either in the next core set, or in the next block, they will most likely print some new lands. Or reprint older lands, so standard shouldn't have to live off of just scry lands.

it all depends on whether you want the deck to be competative or not. If its casual no big deal, if you want to go to fnm and are pissed off you keep losing, I'd suggest a mono colored deck. Even at 2 colors you need dual lands

Also I will say that shocks have eternal value for sure. They might not hold up to current price when standard rotates them out but they will always be worth something decent

just run maze's end....cheap and kicks ass. i enjoy it much more than my mono black, burn list, and my mono white devotion. although i thoroughly enjoy my jund land destruction too.....but maze's end is a great way to to lose friends and make people hate you.

I have the same problem. I love Grixis and Jund, but can't win more than half the matches at an FNM Standard unless I go mono-color, and even then I still can't afford enough "bomb rares" / "chase rares" to have any hope of making it in the top-four.

I simply refuse to spend more than 100$ on a deck. I'd rather be satisfied with losing and still having fun.

That said, what are some ideas for a Jund midrange or Grixis control deck that can be made on a budget?

There honestly isn't a way to "Budget" a successful 3 color deck in standard, I've decided I'm just going to pick up some Overgrown Tomb 's and play my already relatively successful Golgari deck, as much as I want to play Jund.

i would suggest just sticking with B/G or B/R or even G/R until you can slowly assemble your lands. Those three colors have a wide variety of fun decks to pick from.
