Since Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx is a Legendary land you can obviously only have one out at a time, if i tapped Nykthos for devotion and had a nother Nykthos in hand and had not played a land for the turn, could i play the Nykthos from my hand and destroy the other Nykthos and since Nykthos adds "floating" mana the mana it produced would still be in affect even when it was destroyed so theoretically i could use that mana to tap the new Nykthos and produce even more devotion mana, correct

Yes! I've done that before and it rocked.

You can do the same thing with Planeswalkers too, such as use Jace, Memory Adept 0 ability to mill for ten, then play another Jace from your hand and mill for another ten that turn. That has won me games.

Yep you can use the first nykthos to add say 5 mana to your pool, play the second, sacrificing the first, use 2 of that mana to add a further 5, leaving 7 to make Stormbreath Dragon monstrous for example.

Basically, using the new Legendary rule for "double activation" is the narrow upside to not being able to play both, which would be ridiculous.

Playing my friend on turn 7-8 i had 16 devotion to green and activated nykthos, sacrificed it for a new nykthos, activated it making 30 mana and then activated Xenagos, The Reveler for a further 10 mana totaling 40, and then made Polukranos, World Eater monstrous for 20 and combined that in the combat phase with the ability of Xenagos, God of Revels
