Azorius control is much better. In my experience if you try to play control without counterspells, you're going to be struggling more. But also in my experience when I made an Orzhov aggro deck in ended up functioning as more of a pseudo control deck. But like I said, Azorius all the way.

I am running an Orzhov control right now, and while I may be biased, I like it a lot. It gives access to a lot of threats, as well as a lot of control through removal and hand destruction. I know Azorius control is the "deck to build" right now because of how strong it is, but I honestly think that Orzhov will have a place among the elite in a couple months time, and I (hopefully) will be glad to have been ahead of the curve. Now if money was no restriction, Esper all day, but I have a limited budget and card base, so Orzhov it is, and I am loving it man.

i was leaning towards azorius because counters are so good, i want to go esper soon to allow Blood Baron of Vizkopa , Obzedat, Ghost Council , Hero's Downfall and Thoughtseize

@strateupjee if you are referring to the Orzhov deck on your profile then I'm sorry to say but that's a midrange deck, not control. I know midrange has some control elements but there's a significant difference. Sorry to be a stickler, labels are just important to me lol

It is Mid-Range, but it has control elements all the same, there are basically as many as I could fit without taking away from the power of the deck, and I feel it is pretty controlling when it plays without having blue for counter-magic. Thoughtseize strips their hand before they can even play it, and kill spells make sure anything I don't want to stick around, don't stick around haha. So while you are correct, it is a "Mid-Range," you can't discount the control elements that are undoubtedly there.

I get what you are saying, but that's like saying a U/W aggro deck is a control deck just because it runs 4x Mana Leak

Why not play Esper?
