Pre-Con Help?

Deck Help forum

So I bough the Blue/Black (Dimir?) pre-con. Problem is, as a mill deck it really is not focused enough. I'm not even a good magic player and I can say thoroughly that deck doesn't have a good win ratio and it just seems too aggro for a mill deck as far as I'm concerned. Advice on fixing it? I say this because even if I do pull Consuming Aberration I can't do shit with him because they aren't milled enough.

Consuming Aberration btw for anyone who isn't aware of its effect.

A place to start then is to take out the more aggressive, non-milling aspects of the deck. The Gutter Skulk s, the Welkin Tern and the Incursion Specialist may be the first cards you want to ditch. Those would be well replaced by more Balustrade Spy s or Vedalken Entrancer s, or maybe Fog Bank s for early game stability.

You may want to keep some of the unblockable cards like Deathcult Rogue s but it is up to you if you want to keep the Cipher cards that can work with them. If you want to focus entirely on mill these can mostly go out, e.g. the Shadow Slice . You could replace these with more milling cards perhaps, or more control cards that stop your opponent from killing you (think Murder or Psychic Strike .

Generally, getting more copies of the same cards you want should do wonders for a deck's consistency. So if you can get hold of another Consuming Aberration , that would be great.

Happy deckbuilding!

Dream Twist is a nice addition. Trepanation Blade is cool. a lot of people like Mind Grind , although i'm not sold on it most times.. Increasing Confusion too.

If you manage to get more Consuming Aberration s, I suggest running a couple Essence Harvest s as an alternate win-con. Take a look at my aberration deck, you might come up with some more ideas: Consumed in Thought
