you could run Spellskite , it would be able to stop them killing your precursor and them from killing the other golems.

Spellskite is pretty much totally bamf.

You can also just make sure to use this property to your advantage, too. Since you're already in Bant colors, Withstand Death can protect all of your golems from destruction. card:Apostle's Blessing can also protect all your golems, though it's a bit more expensive.

And this won't save your golems from bolt-based death, but Twisted Image will net you a lot of cards with one casting, as will Irresistible Prey (which you can cast in your postcombat main phase if you don't want to deal with the combat consequences).

thanks for the help and ideas on this card it seems risky to run the card but the pay off can be worth it in my opinion cause it seems if they dont have a answer for it then its game over

ShadeSlayer17: Turn Aside actually does little for you here. The spell they're casting gets copied when they cast it, so by the time you can cast a counterspell there's already however many copies of it on the stack; and Turn Aside doesn't target your golems, so it won't be copied itself, meaning you'll only be able to save one golem.

Indomitable Archangel seems like it might be good with golems

Leeching Bite can kill off some creatures and bring the golem's out of bolt range.

Again, doesn't work as well. Precursor Golem 's copying clause specifically states that it has to be single-target only, and Leeching Bite has multiple targets, so it's not copied.

For the same reason that a counterspell does not save all your golems (copies of the offending spell are created when it is cast, and countering just one is unlikely to matter much), Spellskite might not protect them very well. Yes, one could activate the ability multiple times to change the target of each copy, but the cost of changing them all could easily be prohibitive.

The bottom line is that the ability on Precursor Golem remains double-edged. You can use it to your advantage, building with spells like Twisted Image , or you could simply have a way to get rid of the original golem immediately and just take the two tokens for 5 as decent value. But it will definitely provide value to an opponent running Twisted Image , Lightning Bolt , etc.
