[[Red Sun's Zenith] vs Devil's Play

Which do people think is better for a general X finisher. RSZ has the opportunity of being used many times while devils play can be used the second time without having to wait. Im specifically looking for which to use in my Wolf Run Ramp deck. Any feedback is appreciated

card:Devil's Play is so much better than RSZ it's not funny. The odds of drawing RSZ again AND benefiting from it are tiny compared to a nearly guaranteed second usage. card:Devil's Play is like the new Banefire . Well, not quite.

Red Sun's Zenith can be used many times, but it generally won't be because it shuffles back into your library. Devil's play is much better, especially with ramp as opposed to a one-shot mana burst from, for example, Koth of the Hammer .

The primary benefit of RSZ is the exile clause it's got built into it. So it really comes down to your meta. If you see a lot of Solar Flare or similar creature recursion decks, then it might be worth having less of a guarantee of multiple castings to be able to nuke something more permanently. Side board most seems like the best place though.

I prefer card:Red Sun's Zenith over card:Devil's Play, no question. You can splash red for RSZ (like in Wolf Run Green), where Devil's Play would just fail. Also, half of the creatures worth using in Standard today do things when they die. RSZ eliminates Wurmcoil Engine , Solemn Simulacrum , Archon of Justice , and even Goblin Arsonist , which pops up from time to time and can be very annoying, all get fried.

It depends on what you're intent on burninating.

card:Red Sun's Zenith is better against creatures due to the exile clause. It stops a lot of the problems with on-death triggers and graveyard recursion. The reshuffle means it's not terribly inefficient.

card:Devil's Play is better against non-recursive decks and decks with no on-death triggers, since it can be used on both the opponent and his or her creatures. The flashback also means it can be lethal much faster by burning for two turns rather than trying to blow them out in one.

Uh...... I hate to be this guy, but if your goal is red deck win by burn... why not have both???

If your goal was to win by burn, you'd probably not want either.

They're too slow and aren't really efficient for the mana the cost.
