R/W/B Midrange for Modern ideas
Deck Help forum

I've been wanting to build a R/W/B deck to use in modern, but I'm not to familiar with the format does anyone have ideas for what cards I should have in it. Below I have a list of cards I think would be good in a deck like this.
Obzedat, Ghost Council/// Path to Exile/// Terminate/// Lightning Bolt/// Lightning Helix/// Murderous Redcap/// Lingering Souls/// Assemble the Legion/// Ghost Quarter /// Vault of the Archangel/// Rakdos's Return/// Olivia Voldaren
Note: I do not want to go very far above the $300 range. Also as you can see by the list most of the cards are fairly recent, this is because I am not very familiar with the older sets.
Any help is welcome!
Ya I see what you mean I was going to make it standard, but then I thought it is not worth dropping $300+ if M13/Innistrad won't be around for to much longer (alot of the cards I wanted to add were from M13/Innistrad block)

Yea that's why if you notice mine is all RTR and m14 to try and avoid that

I'd be concerned about its speed, specifically in what it could do against combo decks. Obzedat is a house and I love to play him in Standard, but even the control decks in Modern are probably too fast for him to have really good value. Assemble the Legion is almost completely out because while it would be good against certain decks (Melira Pod, perhaps, or the GW Hatebears deck if you can get it out), it would be really slow against most.
The other problem is one that's more practical, and that is that if you're going to play a three-color deck in Modern you're almost required to have a decent number of fetchlands. You spend too much time assembling the correct mana otherwise, and you're talking about some cards with very specific mana requirements. It will be hard to stay around $300 when your lands are costing you just about that much (I run a three-color deck, and fetchlands alone were about $280).
Of course, if you're in it for casual, then neither of those things are considerations. The cards you talk about are all good, and many are commonly used in Modern already.
If you're looking to go along these lines and don't have a lot of investment/experience in Modern yet, consider BW Tokens. It doesn't cover every card you mentioned, but it does touch on a reasonable number of them. Also, the deck is pretty good and relatively inexpensive (if you don't count Thoughtseize , but many of us use Duress or Inquisition of Kozilek because Thoughtseize prices are not only high, but insane). If you're interested in lists, google Melissa DeTora...she's placed a couple of these into GP T16's recently.

Thanks man, ya I wasn't sure if this was going to work out that much in modern since I have less experience in it than I do in standard, but I'll probably try and form it into a standard deck post-rotation (which is what it originally was going to be).

I like the idea, but I think it might not be strong enough to play in Modern. It probably has a better chance in standard, which is where I'm making my Soul Suckin'Jerk rwb midrange deck. I don't mean to discourage you, but idk if it's strong enough for Modern.
