In modern, legacy, commander, etc... Shadowborn Apostle definitely has a lot of potential. But in standard, do you think a deck with swarms of Shadowborn Apostle and then the 4 Shadowborn Demon could ever be a threat? My beta for something that might look like this is linked. A deck that revolves around this might have some potential... tell me what you think. Death by devotion! The ultimate black weeny.
I'm not convinced Shadowborn Apostle has potential in ANY format (except perhaps EDH) because modern and legacy has access to even more removal heavy or super aggro decks that standard does. Why use that when you could Show and Tell anyway?

Yeah I mean its a cool concept but its really just a casual deck type it can win but it probably wont a whole lot

I put together a Vintage Shadowborn Apostle deck :(
I'm hoping a future expansion has a "Your Demons are indestructible and hexproof" enchantment ;)

Never. They're vulnerable to removal, can't stop the opponent putting pressure on you (can't block and survive), slow to get enough of them and then they give you a demon which will instantly see a Hero's Downfall or Putrefy or something and ultimately it's not worth it. There's no point going for that strategy when the meta loves killing your stuff at instant speed.
