I want to stick to my favorite deck, esper, but I want to be able to beat everyone and not have a netdeck.
I've considered a deck with a ton of counters, but I'm not sure. What do you guys think is viable?

Yeah I've been considering a deck with nothing but counters, kill, and draw, with an unstoppable win con like one or two AEtherling s in it, but I'm not sure how it would fair against the typical esper deck.

What your describing is the basic of most Esper decks. Lots of control either creature removal if meta is heavy that way or spell counters if the meta leans that way with a Win Con you can back up. If what you're looking for is just not an Esper list with all the really expensive cards removed then yeah do like DaggerV said and use the colours but in a way no one else is right now and use the best cards you have in those colours and just have some fun with it.

I mean I have the most expensive cards for the esper deck. I have the walkers, the barons, etc, but I'd rather not use the run of the mill deck. I'd like to make a very competitive esper deck that doesn't involve Elspeth and Barons and 4 Jaces and stuff.
I do like the way DaggerV is going, but personally, I like to stray away from creatures as much as possible, only using the ones I must (if at all) to win. So with Aetherling as a win con, how can I make it on par?

I am personally running an esper midrange if it can be called that. No Aetherling, just some Daxos, Ashiok, Medomai, and Spectres with lots of control elements. It has worked well and is fun to play.Just got to get creative in your build. I could easily cut Medomai and throw in some more removal, since Medomai as a whole, sucks, but if it wins it wins.
