Let me start by prefacing this post with a TLDR disclaimer. It will be lengthy but please bear with me and if you ARE a serious and competitive player then I would greatly appreciate the few minutes of your time it takes to read this and respond. :D
OK. I am going to be participating in a Star City IQ in August. (granted this is still a ways away) BUT. I am building my deck up now in preparation FOR this event, and I would love to get some feedback from you guys on the subject. My deck is a R/W/U control deck named Did Someone Say Shenanigans?.
Currently it is doing very well in FNM events but I have not really tested it against some of the SUPER strong meta decks that I have seen people using for these IQ events.
So far my MAJOR issues have been the super fast aggro decks using gruul and naya. However, after adding in white for verdict and sphinx's, I have noticed a HUGE improvement along with the ability to board wipe turn four to skew things back in my favor(since we all know aggro decks generally HAVE to win by turn 5-6 at the latest or they stall out).
Problem is that I am still running into these issues of not having a certain mana at a certain time or not having a certain card at the right time...
What I am looking for is a threefold thing... Optimum hand for the deck... Possible improvements to strengthen the deck.... and any changes I can make to do a bit better against super high end meta decks...
For those of you that have seen my name on here before, I am a new player to the game, but I am highly competitive and did not stay on the losing end for very long... lol. Now that I am winning consistently, I have thought about trying to get onto some of the higher circuits, but I still am not confident with my deck.
For those of you who have read this far, I greatly appreciate your time and look forward to your feedback and assistance.
ThanksSnow.

I am considering using a playset of Boros Reckoner either mainboard or sideboard as an early game deterrent to fast aggro decks and creatures in general... what do you guys think? i know that at least for me personally anyways, a reckoner staring your creatures down from across the table is a very valid threat. any damage absorbed is getting thrown right back at you. or your other creatures so he is a super effective blocker AND attacker. (and he is one of the few creatures that I actually like using... lol)
