Steam Augury over Opportunity for sure.
it was one of the comment on my deck the master of grixis is back
while i updated the list and thus hidden the comments it still eludes my what makes the card a better pick.

I think opportunity is much better. Guaranteed 4 cards, and your opponent cant see them.

Depends on the set-up really. I use Steam Augury in my Izzet Grixis deck due to a few things like Spellheart Chimera . I even went as far as to fuck with someone and put all five cards in a single pile once when I had the chimera out.

From someone who has playtested with Steam Augury , DON'T USE IT!!!!! You might as well remove your win cons from the deck before you begin playing because anyone who has the slightest idea of how to play MtG will pitch the win con and let you have the support cards.

what if the win con is to have your win con pitched? As in It burns when I control?

I usually use Steam Augury with a wincon in hand. Then when you show your five you separate it into the wincon in one pile and the other 4 in the other. They either give you another wincon or let you draw four cards. Generally they go for the four cards as you pointed out. Four cards for four mana seems like a good deal to me. If you only run one wincon in the whole deck, you're doing it wrong.

Why is it better?
Easier and Quicker to cast.
Why is it not better?
Less likely to draw four cards, and your opponent gets to see them and choose what goes into your hand what goes into the graveyard.
They'd both be useful,
