STUPID Supreme Verdict
Deck Help forum

So I run a mono red fast deck (#RedDecksFTW) and the one card that always gives me trouble is Supreme Verdict I hate it god f---ing d--n it. But I've looked around and there really appears to be no solution for mono red. I require assistance!!!!!
Well, if you are willing to splash white, there is the amazing Boros Charm but other than that, the only way to deal with it is to kill them before it goes off. Indestructible, regeneration, or a Tenacious Dead type ability is all there is in standard that can deal with Supreme Verdict, and indestructible is almost entirely in red, while regeneration and returning cards from the graveyard are green/black. Mono red doesn't really have any good options against the card.

yeah, I'd say splash white for Boros Charm s if you can't just play around it. Most RDW like the 4 damage to the face mode anyways.

*indestructible is almost entirely in white
Really need to learn to proofread.

@fluffybunnypants That seems to be my best option. Thanks for the dry honesty!
@raithe000/smash10101 Boros Charm is a viable option but shock lands are so expensive. I'll see if I can pick some up from a friend. Maybe -2 Lightning Bolt +2 Boros Charm with some shock lands. Thanks!

playing around verdict is actually really fun. As an often control player, I love seeing my opponent squirm in his/her seat, and since I only play agro in standard (since I play standard about twice a year), I get to enjoy playing against control and watching them debate casting verdict or waiting a turn and maybe taking 4 or 5 damage and but getting more value out of it as they watch you sit there with a full hand not casting anything.

@RedSoxFanKy: Anytime. fluffybunnypants is always good for that. fluffybunnypants occasionally likes to refer to himself in the third person. It causes confusion, especially with the chicks.

Well if you intend on going mono red your best bet is probably a mix of burn and Chandra's Phoenix and it can recur itself.

if you want to stick mono red and you're biggest issue is esper / azorius control decks, splashing white as stated above could work...but more likely than not youre going to need to sideboard well.
cards like Burning Earth , Hammer of Purphoros , purphoros, Chandra's Pheonix all produce recuring damage and give all your cards haste, so figuring before boardwhipe you got in 10-16 damage depending on draw v. play. you should still be set up really well to end it after a board wipe.
also as stated above not over playing your hand is big.

hell, if you wanted to, have your SB be this:
4x Boros Charm

Legion's Initiative is another option if you are splashing white, it will also boost all your creatures and can be used multiple times (altho, it will kill your tokens)

Legion's Initiative does not return itself to the battlefield as part of its last ability, so unless you have a way to pull things out of exile, it is not usable multiple times.

Play non creature spells like Chandra, Pyromaster or Burning Earth . Both are pretty strong against control, granted there are answers to these things too but at least that answer is not the same card that deals with everything else. If budget is a concern Burning Earth is the cheaper option and maybe better in certain matchups.

Playing around it by not overextending seems like a winner.
