Hey, you guys. Ever since I started playing Magic about four months ago, I've had my heart set on building a really solid Dragon-themed Red and Green deck in standard. I came up with a pretty good system, and, for a while, it was devastating when I would just play against my friends... But, as you might imagine, in the more fast-paced, competitive atmosphere of Standard Tournament play, where people are running around toting finely oiled Jace, the Mind Sculptor decks, I'm frequently - and brutally - brushed aside.
I would like to continue along with my original idea for the deck if at all possible, focusing on combining powerful Dragon creatures with Assault Strobe , and World at War , as I really love the feel of it.
I've recreated one of the earliest incarnations of the deck here, for reference.deck:dragon-deck-mark-0http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/dragon-deck-mark-0/
The newest version can be found here.deck:dragon-forgehttp://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/dragon-forge/As you can see, I'm presently considering Semblance Anvil as a way to reduce the high mana demands of my Dragons, as well as additional ramp in the form of Birds of Paradise . I'm aware that a combination of Harrow and Lotus Cobra is probably more ideal, but is obviously very costly in terms of finance... Not to mention that the Zendikar block is on its way out.I'm also seriously debating the matter of Kargan Dragonlord , whose advantage is a low initial mana cost, as well as an incredibly powerful final stage... To say nothing of the fact that he fits the atmosphere of the deck perfectly. Again, however, he is quite expensive to acquire, and Zendikar is rotating out all too soon.
Any and all advice and feedback is greatly appreciated. I just want to be able to attend a standard tournament, and give the competition a run for their money.
Oh, God... You're telling me. Every time I hear people talk about Planeswalkers, I shed a tear, and pray that they reprint Sarkhan Vol .
I briefly considered splashing Black for Sarkhan the Mad with Dragonskull Summit , but the new version of him just doesn't compare.
