Suggestions for BG Explore Themes

So, The Gitrog Monster, Vraska, Relic Seeker, and Nissa, Voice of Zendikar walk into a bar...

No, but really. My friends and I like to play casual with theme decks. I love all three of the aforementioned cards and would like to build a synergy-driven lands and +1/+1 counters deck around them. My theme would be discovery, exploration, and relic-seeking, obviously. However, I'm having trouble coming up with mechanical fits for those themes, besides Explore like Merfolk Branchwalker and Seekers' Squire from IXN.

If you have any suggestions for flavorful cards for this deck, I'd love to hear about it! Flavor matters more than win rate here, though I'd like it to compete at a "casual-competitive" level.

Standard or Modern format?

solarPULSAR, the Gitrog Monster just rotated. Think casual format at about the power level of Standard -- T6 or T7 for goldfish kills.
