What is Scourge of Valkas (the new M14 Mythic Dragon) Compared to Thundermaw Hellkite ?
Gruul Dragon decks will be hurt tremendously when M13 cycles out, as only Furnace Whelp has been confirmed to be reprinted.
What can Dragon Decks do in this new cycle besides sit and cry?
- A standard dragon deck goes along the lines of This Little Dragon Went to the Market

Scourge of valkas is bad. It doen't impact the board the way thundermaw did, which was by smacking you opponents for 5 to the face and killing their Lingering Souls tokens. Scourge does none of that. It would be great in Karthus EDH but nowhere else,

Wait for Theros, because you'll probably get more Dragons there.

Please don't post the same thread to multiple forums. One is sufficient.
I deleted the thread that had no responses.

I wish thundermaw was in m14, it will be a crippling loss for my Jund deck. Not big on Scourge of Valkas. He requiress 3 red specific to cast (which is hard in a 3 color deck), he has no haste, and theres way less of a guarantee of dealing damage. He requires other things to be on the field to be useful, where thundermaw is a powerhouse by itself. I dont think Scourge of Valkas will see nearly as much play as Thundermaw. I know I wont be using it.

Although, with Sarkhan Vohl being reprinted in Modern masters, the new dragon may see some modern play.

Unlikely. It is an expensive dragon with triple red, that requires more dragon cards and does'nt win the game that quickly.

I have posted this in both Standard and Deck help threads as the topic pertains to both
