Deck Help forum

Hey there. I run a 10 Post, Simic Legacy deck. I'm working on the other 2x Vesuva to make it a true 12 Post. Anyway, it seems decently efficient w/o awesome duals like Breeding Pool and Tropical Island , as those are freaking expensive. That being said I was considering going mono green, however I would lose some cool blue card advantage like Snapcaster Mage , Mana Leak , etc. I'd also lose a few fetch lands ala Scalding Tarn and what not (Oh, and no Force of Will s again due to budget constraints).

I think that it could run much smoother being mono and be more consistent with my mana base. Another option I've considered is to splash red, as I have Stomping Ground , Arid Mesa , Rootbound Crag , and what not. Thus, I'd like some suggestions, help, assistance...

The deck is here: Touchdown! Da LOL's

Thanks in advance. Please be kind and constructive :-)

If you can't afford Force of Will , Tropical Island , or even Breeding Pool , I don't see the point in trying to play competitively in Legacy.

4x Breeding Pool @ $25.00

$100.00 + 4x Tropical Island @ $100.00

$500.00 + 4x Force of Will @ $60.00

= $740.00

Uh...yeah, I'm in social work broski lol. Best I can do is eventually accumulate Breeding Pool .

RDW is very budget friendly in Legacy, btw.

Any helpful suggestions?

I would have to sadly agree. Legacy is reserved for people who do have the money. The duals in a normal competitive dual to tri color deck cost $300-$500... Not to mention you HAVE to be running a playset of Wasteland .

The best counterspell (Besides FoW) is Spell Snare , and his partner Daze . You literally need those counterspells to survive in Legacy.

Lastly, if you're running any form of blue control, Jace, the Mind Sculptor is utmost necessary, probably at least 3 if not a playset.

The folks in my local meta might have a few of the aforementioned cards, which I can work around. Believe me, I'm not planning on taking this deck to a Pro Tour Qualifier/Open anytime soon. I'd just like some suggestions if I should go with Mono Green, stay Simic (I could add Spell Snare and Daze if I can find any), or perhaps even Gruul, as I have that mana base.

Goblin Charbelcher combo can be relatively cheap, since you only need 1 land in the entire deck. Lotus Petal is only a few dollars.

MTG Salvation recently published three articles talking about budget legacy decks that range in cost from $20-$100. You should check them out for ideas.
