I need to find combos that can spike lifegain in order to reach 30 life. Help me find the most defensive cards in the standard format and help me find combos that will open your opponent's eyes wide when they trigger. Bonus points if those combos are easy to achieve and even more bonus points if the combo requires a small amount of mana.
Here is what I have so far :
Tree of Redemption + Sheltering Word = Your life total becomes 26
scroll-of-avacyn-+-[[viridian-harvest = Instantly gain +11 life and draw a card (angel)
Timely Reinforcements + Goldnight Redeemer = About 12 life in 2 turns depending on what happens
Cathedral Sanctifier + Saving Grasp = 9 life + "3" blockers

Ignoring damage from the opponent, how do you suppose Tree of Redemption and Sheltering Word makes your life total 26?

DUH! 20+13=26
trolling
I feel that normal lifegain (Whitesun's Passage , Pristine Talisman etc.) is better than combo life gain.

. Next turn start pinging for 5. Oh, and your Tree of Redemption is still 0/20. Tap again it becomes a 0/33. Oh Doran, the Siege Tower , why aren't you in standard?

@fireteam: That's 36, not 26. Your trolling failed :P

@UmbrotheUmbreon: 36? 26? What is going on with the maths here?...Aquamaniac is right, either way your life total would be at 33 assuming your life was originally 20 and Tree of Redemption has 13 toughness.
Also, Wurmcoil Engine as a finisher? If you have the budget of course :$

I was being sarcastic, as I replied to GoblinsInc. He was asking why it equaled 26, and it was poor math so I was trolling in saying it does equal 26. It actually equals 33 20+13=33.
Aquamaniac was the correct one, I was simply doing false math in light of Shrodinger's false math.

Hmm, or is the math neither false nor positive until it is examined? :D

its not really a combo, but i like chalices in a fog build. just negate combat dmg and gain life with chalices and Blunt the Assault until your chalices flip (and with rites of flourishing, its easy to draw your chalices), and then tap for game.

dandugg has a good idea. Or you could try combine the two approaches, gaining life with your Tree of Redemption /Sheltering Word trick or other lifegaining stuff on some turns and Fog ging and Blunt the Assault ing on other turns?

RG life gain would be funny. Chandra, the Firebrand and Reverberate for your Sheltering Word .
The rest of the deck can primarily be traditional RG Aggro just to mess with your opponent.
