So the question is, can casual decks be competitive at tournaments? I have this Highway to Heaven Angels deck, building upon the cards given in the intro packs. What I've come across a lot is that some of these top decks are just really hard to play against with just a deck that you've tried building on your own. It's a little frustrating b/c I would like to be able to build competitive decks on my own without having to go online and find out what the best deck is and then building THAT.
Aside from my little rant, I've like to get some feedback and input as to what would make this deck stronger and if it stands any chance against top level decks. I REALLY don't want to break down and have to copy one of these online decks. Apologies if my post sounds like I'm whining, I enjoy the game no matter what. I'm still learning a lot since I started playing not too long ago, so maybe my logic doesn't make sense to more experienced players. By all means, call me out on it and teach me thy ways!! lol All mature comments are appreciated!

It seems like you're asking two questions here:
I would say no to the first and yes to the second. I define a casual deck as anything that is put together with its priorities as having fun before winning. Competitive decks at the high level are tuned to be ruthlessly effective and are therefore likely to shut down any "casual" deck.
Original decks, on the other hand, are legitimate contenders in the competitive scene. Before cawblade was banned, I used Kill Order to great effect at my LGS (which was full of netdecks like Eldrazi Ramp, RDW, and Cawblade). It was an original deck that I designed myself based on observations in that meta and it went 3:1 consistently (only losing to cawblade).
In the end, these generalizations mean less than an actual analysis of each individual deck.
