U/R/x

Deck Help forum

I want to build a U/R control deck, but I need another color to make it viable. unfortunately, U/R just doesn't have the removal package I need for a control deck. I am trying to decide between addind white or black. White gives me access to Detention Sphere , Supreme Verdict , and Sphinx's Revelation . on the other hand, black gives me Dreadbore , Hero's Downfall and Thoughtseize .

so far, I haven't had an issue with draw power. I currently have 4 Divination , 2 Opportunity , and 3 Jace, Architect of Thought . so revelation doesn't seem like a big deal to me. I have Anger of the Gods and Mizzium Mortars , and either black or white could cover me for the other things I cant deal with. white does help me out by giving me some enchantment hate, but Thoughtseize can take out enchantments before they are a problem.

all of this being said, what do you guys think I should do?

I would say take white over black. U/R/W is a pretty powerful combination. White also gives you access to cards like Azorius Charm Chained to the Rocks and Last Breath that you can use against aggro and midrange with good effect.

Definitely white. I've played Grixis control in Theros, and it doesn't stand up against Sphinx's Revelation and Supreme Verdict , not to mention missing Azorius Charm and Detention Sphere . America control just has so many better tools than Grixis right now.

I don't really care about Azorius Charm or Supreme Verdict . also, the only thing Detention Sphere removes that I cant otherwise deal with is enchantments, which actually don't bother me that much, especially with all the hate out there for enchantments. besides, I still use Ratchet Bomb to destroy Detention Sphere in the u/w matchups. I have played U/W and grixis control, and ive had more success with grixis, although that was before BNG was released. I also think Slaughter Games is just too powerful in the control matchups to pass up
