Vexing Devil for Jund?
Deck Help forum

Made this jund deck recently and my friend and I had a discussion over Vexing Devil
presence in my deck. Personally, I love vexing devil; one drop for a 4/3 or for a four damage burn. To me his ability to create pressure really early is just awesome and his mid and late game appearances are never unwanted. I was just wondering if I could get another view point or some criticism about him and what I should do with him or replace him with?
deck:vexing jund
I run Vexing Devil in jund aggro and hes definitely pretty boss, especially with Varolz, the Scar-Striped , I would definitely make room for him in that deck

Jund Midrange definitely does not want Vexing Devil . Jund wants powerful midrange creatures (thraggy, Huntmaster of the Fells Flip , Olivia Voldaren ), meta hate (Scavenging Ooze , Rakdos's Return ), and cheap removal. The devil is none of these, and therefore isn't necessary.
The only way I could see him being used effectively is with varolz in some sort of jund aristocrats deck as was previously mentioned.

Jund aggro can use him. Either way he is a bad card for a player to see. They either have to waste a card to kill him or they have to take 4 damage straight up.
For midrange, he isn't so good. A 4/3 for R where they get to pick if it lives or dies is bad.

I think the way you need to read Vexing Devil is "Deal 4 damage to an opponent. This card can be countered by creature removal." The only time anyone will choose to let it live is when they have something to immediately deal with it. Or if they have less than 4 life, I suppose.
4 damage for R is obviously pretty damn good, but since it can only hit players it's not as versatile as, say, Lightning Bolt and it can effectively be countered by things like Lightning Bolt. Still, having your opponent use up a removal card on a 1 mana creature isn't a bad thing.

I think he's a very good card no matter what, whether it be jund, burn, or really anything that utilizes burn. He is a 1 drop and if they were stupid enough to not take the 4 damage it gives you a 4/3 turn 1 (maybe) that you can pump, that game would go fast. But a 1 drop for 4 damage is better than lightning bolt. I think he would be a very good idea and I don't have any reason to not include him in any deck able to use him.. Hope that helps :D
