What am I missing in this deck?

Deck Help forum

Before RTR came out, my wife's deck did great at FNM.(and let's be honest-happy wife, happy life) It started out as a mono white Exalted deck. Since RTR it has turned into an Azorius hybrid Exalted/Control theme. Slowly I'm seeing this deck slip each week during casual and FNM play. (Mostly to Radkos theme decks). She's not too worried, as she still has fun playing the game and the deck, but I can't help but wonder what else could be added to bring it back.

Here is the deck: Coffee Grounds

I don't understand why you use Ajani and Tamyo.Well Tamyo is great to tap something so you can hit the lifepoints, ok.But why do you use Ajani?

Ajani is used for the exalted bonus. Using his +1 on a Soulbonded Serra Avenger gives you and 8 (if not more) swing per turn with vigilance. Plus if the ultimate kicks with Sublime Archangel in play it will basically end the game.

Also the +1 can be used for Undying and Unleashed on the opponent cards.

I don't think Entreat the Angels should be in your deck. If you draw it when you can't play it, it's dead. You'll likely only get to 5 mana before you win or lose, making it 5 mana for a 4/4 vanilla flyer that can be bounced and exiled.

Just take it out for more aggro stuff.

I also don't think you need Tamiyo, in all honesty. If you haven't won by that point, it's because your opponent has a superior board position. And If your entire board is locked down or the battlefield is clogged up, there's very little that a Claustrophobia on turn-5 will do about it.

Again, add more aggressive cards in her place. It'll only benefit you.

Thanks for your comments/advice zandl. I agree with you on Entreat the Angels -Pre-RTR it worked very well, and looking at the overall flavor of the deck-this was the first to go in my mind as well.

I can't think of many white/blue aggressive cards-any suggestions. I'm looking at Fencing Ace and Crusader of Odric , right now, possibly New Prahv Guildmage for the abilities he gives, and as Arachnarchist said Invisible Stalker (hexproof will help with some of the decks concerns)

I would definitely put in Angelic Benediction . It gives exalted as well as a little bit of control. I'm also kind of curious as to why Aven Squire is in your sideboard; under what conditions would you be switching it into the main?

Unblockable is also really good in exalted decks, though I'm not sure if you would need it if you are using control anyways.

I'm not sure if you want to splash black, but I know that Nefarox, Overlord of Grixis wreaks havoc in my boyfriend's B/W exalted deck. Can't help but suggest that puppy.

Lyev Skyknight is a very powerful creature. It's a 3-powered Flyer for 3 mana and can detain any non-land permanent. It stops Creatures (even mana-dorks), Planeswalkers, Equipment from being equipped, and anything else that might be troubling you.

Geist of Saint Traft is always a fantastic option, especially with Sublime Archangel . You can attack, Exalted triggers, then you resolve the Angel ability first, it comes in, then you have an extra buffed-up Geist and an Angel attacking as well.

I wouldn't bother with Angelic Benediction . It comes out on your fourth turn, which then makes it have to compete with Martial Law and Sublime Archangel .

Midnight Haunting , maybe? shrug It's not a bad card, by any stretch.
