What makes a deck competitive?

To the modern players, what makes a deck good. What factors, such as speed, or damage capability really get you that win game? Looking for someone to breakdown the competitive approach.

I made this deck -† BLΔCK †- SΔCR‡F‡C3 which is a remake of the first deck I made and however decent as it was, I've accepted it's just not to a competitive deck, hence the remake. So before I spend 900$ on a deck, I kind of want to know if it'll stand a chance in a tourney or if it'll just be a nice waste of money?

It just so happens that I wrote an article addressing the qualities that make decks strong.

In Modern, you really need a well-rounded deck that possesses all of the qualities you mentioned as well as the ones in my article.
