Do you think this is a viable board wipe for a U/B control shell? Certainly less expensive than an overloaded Cyclonic Rift ...

It's only creatures so no returning those D. spheres.

Far//Away is a better boardwipe than Whelming Wave

Far / Away is not a board wipe... It's targeted removal.

Whelming Wave is kind of iffy. If you are not running many creatures of your own then it can be a nice tempo play. You have to tap out though which won't give you a chance to counter the threat you bounced.

No duh, but the card is efficient enough that it's your best option for a "boardwipe". Similar to how Opportunity is U/B's Sphinx's Revelation, Far//Away is its answer to Supreme Verdict.

Long story short, there is no reason to play U/B over U/W or Esper, white gives you much better cards.

@ TurboFagoot there is a reason though. U/B is sometimes just fun to play :D

And if they have an army of krakens? Then I pledge to them -and their all-powerful leader, Lorthos, the Tidemaker - my soul.
