Would a control deck need ramping?

I run a U/G control deck, Vorinclex in Uthuun. I'm considering adding a few more ramping cards to it, though i'm not entirely sure it's a good idea. the pros are:- i can drop my threats sooner- they'll thin the deck and increase the chances of me drawing answers instead of landsthe cons are:-i get less slots for lands-i need spaces for some much needed large card drawing spells-i dont want to give up several slots [though maybe the deck's namesake is in need of change]
i'll post my options once i find the cards
Solemn Simulacrum is amazing ramp for control... just saying.

everyone's running him :P but i guess the cantrip AND ramp are both worth the cost, and i forgot about him. good call thnx :D

Trust me, he belongs in most control builds. gives you ramp, color fixing, card advantage and a blocker/attacker.
Pretty much all I play is control.

Ive been trying to steer away from the archetype, but the thought of not having answers scares me, what if they do something that i cant deal with? lol

Ramp isn't a typical inclusion in control decks because it diverts resources away from control magic and can leave you tapped out when you most need your counterspells. Ramp decks like Wolf Run are often devoid of traditional (and certainly blue) control spells because the two goals would be too diametrically opposed to run together.
A Simic control deck with some mana acceleration in the form of Solemn Simulacrum or Birds of Paradise would likely be better than one that focuses on true ramp spells.

Viridian Emissary
good aggro, but the option to ramp is mainly dependent on the opponent
Rampant Growth
quick and easy, but it lacks the utility of a creature
Dawntreader Elk
decent creature, can land damage and fetch in the same turn, and You get to choose to use the ability, but the conditional cost would require leaving mana open,
Evolving Wilds
takes up land slots, doesn't impose on spell slots, or is it bad that it takes up land slots? doesnt really ramp just thins the deck while allowing a mildly more versatile land base
Caravan Vigil
cheap, can get a land in untapped, but conditional, sorcery speed so the condition is half as efficient.
